"This was without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed in. First and foremost the staff were exceptional! So friendly and helpful and approachable. We tend to avoid big hotel chains so this was perfect for us! The location was between the Old Town and the Marina. Some people have commented on the steep hill but we didn’t find it problematic. We are in our 70’s but pretty active. Our room was on the 4th floor and looked onto the pools and sea. There was ample storage space and hanging space and the room was spotless. Cleaning took place daily and there were towel and bed linen changes every few days. The decor in the hotel is tasteful with a lovely foyer and bar area. The pool area is quite spacious and has a lovely toilet and shower. Special praise for all the staff. Ricardo, Caecilia and Amelia in the restaurant( and everyone, just didn’t catch all the names) . Armen the barman who was always smiling and joking. Last but not least, Sofia, Claudia and Angelina in reception who had lots of knowledge and always took the time to make us feel welcome and at home! What a great team! Some people had negative comments regarding the breakfasts. We were more than happy, the rolls croissants and cakes were all fresh and the coffee was superb. We always had plenty to eat and everything we had was top quality! Would not hesitate to recommend this excellent hotel. Its a find!"

"We recently spent seven nights at Hotel do Cerro in Albufeira. Overall, the hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and we had a pleasant stay. However, there were a few things that we found rather strange, particularly for a hotel with a four-star rating. We had booked a lovely room with a large balcony/terrace offering fantastic views over the sea and Albufeira Old Town. It was a great space and certainly one of the highlights of our stay. However, despite being a double room with a generously sized terrace, we only had one sunlounger! There was a table and chairs, but having just one sunlounger seemed a little odd. It would also have been the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee overlooking the sea, but unfortunately, that brings me to another rather strange point. As someone who travels extensively for both business and pleasure, I was surprised to discover that you had to pay extra for a kettle and cups in your room. In a four-star hotel, I would expect tea and coffee-making facilities as standard, if not a coffee machine. You also had to pay for a key to use the room safe, which, in 2026, seems incredibly outdated. Surely these are basic facilities that should be included? The strangest experience, however, was breakfast. Rather than a traditional buffet, breakfast was entirely table service, with guests required to complete a form each morning, ticking the items they wanted. Everything was then delivered to the table at once, including drinks. If you ordered a cooked breakfast, it arrived on a small side plate! The whole process felt unnecessarily complicated and rather odd. In fact, despite breakfast being included in our stay, we only ate at the hotel three times during our seven nights, choosing to go elsewhere for the remaining mornings. Another point worth mentioning is the hotel's location. Although it wasn't a problem for us, anyone planning to walk into Albufeira Old Town, where the majority of the restaurants and bars are located, should be aware that the return journey is quite challenging. There are several steep hills and flights of stairs to negotiate on the way back up to the hotel. It's certainly something to consider, particularly for anyone with mobility issues or those who aren't keen on a strenuous walk after an evening out! It's a shame because the hotel has plenty going for it. The cleanliness was excellent, the staff were lovely, and our room and terrace offered wonderful views. However, these little quirks really detracted from what could have been a much better experience. Having stayed in numerous hotels around the world, I genuinely can't recall encountering some of these practices before, especially in a four-star property. Overall, a perfectly pleasant hotel with friendly staff, great views and plenty of potential, but one that could really benefit from modernising a few of its services and facilities. It's the little things that make the difference, particularly when you're staying in a four-star hotel. Personally, based on our experience and the facilities and services provided, I would rate Hotel do Cerro as a good three-star hotel rather than a four-star."
