"Absolutely wonderful place! We arrived late afternoon on 29th March, the weather was beautiful. The room key is on your wristband which I loved as in forever looking for the key in my bag usually! We were greeted by the loveliest staff and directed to our room in block 2, a 1 bed apartment. The sofa bed was already set up for our 2 children which was nice. The room looked brand new, new kitchen and the oven looked brand new too. Everything you could need for a self catering stay, even washing up liquid etc. rooms were spacious and all rooms have a large double sized balcony and great air con. The Tv did have some English channels too. We had a side sea view and great views of the other 2 Alfagar hotels directly opposite. Block 2 was very quiet, downstairs in the block is a gym, outdoor pool and round the corner a mini market. Mini market is well stocked and even sells souvenirs and has a little cafe in it too. It is overpriced but you are paying for the convenience like you would in UK. There is also an Italian restaurant and takeaway in block 2 but it was closed for refurb, possibly will be open in summer season though. In the main hotel block is a restaurant for those that are half board or B&B so cannot comment on food here. There’s an indoor pool, library and the Tavern bar. The Tavern bar is great for food, drink and ice creams. You can take your food away to eat by the pool, the ham and cheese toasties were so good! We also ate there one night too and had a lovely meal sat on the terrace. Staff are so attentive. They have a kids disco and entertainment here every night too. They also have a parrot show and reptile show during the day on certain days, the parrot show was amazing! They have pool tables and some grabber machines here too. You then have the very large main pool with a small child’s pool next to it. The perfect spot to relax. Outdoor table tennis tables, football goals. Then walk a bit further round the side of the hotel and there is a large kids play frame, another swimming pool and a kids pool with slides. There’s also a splash pad. All were maintained to a very high standard and exceptionally clean. The kids pool with slides had a lifeguard. All pools have toilets nearby. At the kids pool with slides there is a snack bar with some great food choices and drinks. Reasonably priced too. We used Uber to get about during our stay and visited Albufeira old town €6.50 each way, olhos de ague €4.50 each way and Santa Eulália €4.20 each way, we also explored the Alfagar hotels over the road but in my opinion the Alto Da Colina layout was so much better! 35 minutes to and from the airport with our Jet2 transfers! On our last night we had a really early wake up call the next day and the kids were so tired so we had Burger King delivered via Uber eats, we met the driver outside block 2 but you can also meet them at main reception depending where your room is. I would happily come back here every year! Despite being self catering you could happily not leave the hotel, it has everything you could possibly need with the friendliest staff."
