"Booked a superior room with balcony directly with the hotel. The booking app showing a balcony Got a different room on a lower floor with no balcony… defeated the purpose for choosing the hotel. I still do not know , why i did not get the correct room . Advise . Caution to be excercised for your booking here."

"The Thon Hotel Tromsø is in a truly convenient location: it is located exactly behind the wooden cathedral and on the street parallel to the main one in the center, therefore perfect for getting around on foot and easily reaching the main attractions of the city. The hotel is in pure business style, but rather minimalist, both in the lobby and in the rooms. The rooms – at least ours, even if, peeking at those on the other floors, they all seemed more or less the same – are truly tiny. We were not able to open both suitcases at the same time: I dare not imagine how one can do it when traveling with equipment that is anything but minimalist! Let's say that the space to “move around” is really reduced to the essentials. Breakfast is served in a room without windows, illuminated only by a few small skylights, and the environment therefore turns out to be a bit cramped. The selection is good, however, for both sweet and savory options, even if less rich compared to other Thon hotels we tried during this vacation. In any case, it is absolutely more than excellent and one certainly cannot complain. As in the other hotels in the chain, the coffee here is also Nespresso and, besides being available during breakfast, it is free in the lobby and in the room. A little treat that is always very appreciated. The real weak point of the hotel, however, is the parking. On the perpendicular street, there is a small parking lot with few spaces, which is paid during daytime hours. Alternatively, the reception points to the large underground parking garage in Tromsø, which is located not far away, on the same street as the hotel. Here, if we understood correctly, the rate is about 40 euros for 12 hours. The problem is that the directions are really scarce and, above all, the person at the reception was not able to help us very much. Well, this is certainly an aspect I would improve: if you work at a hotel reception and you know that guests may arrive by car, it would be useful to be prepared to provide some more information about parking, especially in a city where leaving the car is not exactly a minor detail. Overall, a convenient hotel for visiting Tromsø, especially for the location, but with rooms that are definitely cramped in terms of space and some room for improvement regarding the service at the reception."
