Scandic Helsfyr

"My stay at Scandic Helsfyr was unfortunately anything but impressive. There are two specific reasons why I cannot recommend this hotel: the cleanliness and the customer service. When I checked in, I discovered a relatively large sticky stain on the floor under the nightstand. I brought this to the attention of the reception and was told it would be cleaned the next day. When I came back the next day, the spot was still there. I got back in touch with the reception, who apologized and assured me that this would be sorted out immediately. When I came back later that evening, the towels had been changed, but the stain was still there. I pointed out the problem again the day after, and was informed again that it should be fixed. Not this time was anything done either. Three inquiries about a single cleaning problem, without the hotel being able to solve it, is simply not good enough. As compensation for this, I received vouchers totaling 200 kroner, which I was told could be used at the hotel. At checkout I wanted to use the vouchers to cover the service from the day before, specifically two beers. To my surprise, I was informed that this was not possible. The vouchers were confiscated, and I was asked to pay the amount myself. When I asked about this, I received a very rude answer from the receptionist that this was not something I could decide. It is one thing for the cleanliness to fail, but when the hotel repeatedly promises to fix a problem without doing anything about it, and then handles its own compensation in such an unservice-oriented manner, the overall experience becomes very bad. I do not expect everything to always be perfect, but I expect a hotel to take guests' feedback seriously, keep its promises, and treat guests with basic courtesy. Scandic Helsfyr unfortunately did not deliver on any of these points. I will not choose this hotel again, nor can I recommend it to others."

"I was told I could park behind the house. It was dark and I didn't see that there were two different parking areas. So I parked in a free space for 13 hours, and got a bill for NOK 1,127,- The price for the other space was NOK 420,- The receptionist should have explained this to me BEFORE I parked!"

"All good, except for the one little detail that allways make my stay at any Scandic hotel a little less plesant. Scandic, please, please change that horribly smelly soap of yours. I am tired of forgetting how bad it is, trying using it, and get that strong, manly scent clinging to my hands for the ramaining part of the day. You ask in your servey if you made it possible for me to make environmentally friendly choises throughout my stay, but you help me better if you reduce that perfume use of yours."
