Yotel Amsterdam

"The location to Amsterdam central was close. The hotel was nice and the bedroom were nice. The bed was very comfortable."

"Was very disappointed with my stay, the location of the hotel was very poor. After the ferry ride, there was a 15-20minute walk along what looked like a building site. With most of the walk being dangerous and having no pedestrian pathway. I have taken several photos for proof. To reduce the risk, we had several costly taxi's. The surroundings were never pre-warned and i believe this should be the case as i wouldn't have made my booking. Considering one of our stays was rated at 450euros, I found the whole experience of the stay (3 nights) wasn't worth that in total and didn't live up to the 4 star rating As previously, mentioned the walk to the hotel was unsafe on times, would result in having to walk in the road on on-coming traffic. Without the aid of google map, i don't think we would be able to have found the hotel as it wasn't sign posted The morning and afternoon staff were very professional, pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same for the night staff, on several occasions on returning to the hotel, the staff would be sitting behind the reception desks, playing on their personal phones. Most nights i went to get an hot drink for the grab & go facility, however, there were no clean mugs available, only full tray of dirty mugs/cups The room was very clean, however the fact the toilet and shower is in the same room as the bed but just sectioned off with glass. With the doors not closing properly and the seals slightly out of alignment No kettle facilities to make tea or coffee, which is the same as other Yotels, however, the Edinburgh establishment offered free tea/coffee/hot chocolate in reception During the whole stay, we didnt take advantage of the room cleaning service, as after the first night the room was still clean, however, on our second day we wanted cleaning, but when we had returned to freshen up and go out for the evening at approx. 6.30pm, the room still hadnt been cleaned, so we put the sign on the front door to not disturb The rooms are very small/tight fitting, with the bed having to electronically move up and down to move past and sleep/lay on. Every so often the bed would get stuck or malfunction. The black out blinds were great, however, the A/C panel was very bright and lite up through out the night, along with the mirror above the sink. There was alot of noise/creaking throughout the night, that would wake us up, whether it was other customers or pipework I wouldnt recommend the hotel, purely on the location and the unsightly/unsafely surroundings"

"I'm going to try and be fair which is difficult. We arrived at the hotel having walked a long route to get there. The hotel building looked like it had been put together with (army) green metal crates and it did not look like a proper building. Inside, there was a decent reception desk and a nice male member of staff (who was Portugues - sorry I do not recall his name). Everything looked clean and that particular member of staff was nice . He went through the hotel booking, taxi, breakfast and bus info - he had a nice manner. We went to our room and I was shocked to see the room was tiny; with a double bed that was automatic pull in and pull out (that looked small). The matteress was hard as were the pillows. From the door to the window overlooking the outside building site was approximately 7.5feets. I had to send my hubby out when I needed to use the toilet. The toilet and shower room was literally 2feet away from the bed. The sink to wash your hands/face was tiny. All very disappointing. In the morning, we went for breakfast - the female older Manager stood in the bar area asked us our room number and did nothing more. The breakfast was below par. The mushrooms were absolutley disgusting!! It was all very very basic and difficult with a lack of food. Day 2 breakfast was simply inadequate; no scrambled egg at 9.40am and when they eventually made some - it was not adequately cooked - slimy and watery. There was no jams in the jam pots, no yogurt in the jug, no potato crochets and no croissants. We won't be going back at all."
