"Disappointing Experience at W Amsterdam – Poor Management and Guest Service My recent stay at W Amsterdam was extremely disappointing, particularly considering the hotel's five-star reputation and premium positioning. During our visit, we experienced unprofessional communication and a concerning lack of transparency from the Welcome Office team. A staff member named Larissa presented herself as a manager. However, when we requested to speak directly with the Hotel Manager, our request was not properly facilitated. The situation was handled in a manner that left us feeling dismissed rather than valued as guests. Following our stay, I received a response from the Welcome Office Manager acknowledging our frustration and apologising. Unfortunately, the response offered explanations rather than a meaningful resolution. What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that our reservation was made through a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member. Given the loyalty associated with this status, we expected a significantly higher standard of hospitality, professionalism and guest recognition. For a hotel operating under the Marriott luxury portfolio, I expected considerably better service, accountability and professionalism. I hope senior management at W Amsterdam and Marriott International take this feedback seriously and make genuine improvements to the guest experience. "Check in was bad. Really bad. There was only one guy there and I was invisible to him while he chatted up the couple in front of me. I think he was trying to schmooze his way into his next job. I regret not offering constructive feedback about it to him or the hotel, because the rest of the stay was top notch. They even sent me a little four piece of chocolates when I had some issues with the bath. And O-M-G, the breakfast buffet at Mr Porters is the best I’ve had in over 10 years. I had a canal room. It was worth it, plus you get to see how they made a bathroom look like a kitchen. It’s quite something. Stock photo provided by hotel attached."

"Overrated hotel. Booked because of the spa, but it was fully booked with guests from outside. If you pay almost 700,- for a room, you expect to be able to use it. Indicated at reception, without reaction. Besides, the whole thing can be made a bit cleaner and use a coat of paint here and there, the elevators are dirty and old. The staff is very friendly and the valet is well organized. The food at Mr Porter is fantastic, as is the service."
