"The hotel was chosen for its proximity to the train station and modern accommodations. 1. Friendly and informative staff; 2. Very spacious rooms with a comfortable bed, small table with comfy chair, additional chair located by desk area, floor to ceiling windows with a panel that opens to allow for some fresh air and an abundance of closet and storage space; 3. Appreciated the carpeted area surrounding the bed, while the other areas remained free of carpet; 4. Very spacious bathroom and shower; 5. Morning breakfast offered a varied selection of entrees. Especially appreciated the availability of eggs prepared on request; and 6. The train station and hop on/off bus & boat tour stops were within walking distance, with Dam Square and shops a comfortable walk away."

"A Beautiful Suite and Thoughtful Welcome, but Some Disappointing Details Our stay at Room Mate Aitana in Amsterdam was overall enjoyable, with some lovely touches that made us feel genuinely welcomed. The suite was beautifully designed, stylish, and extremely comfortable. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful welcome card, chocolates, complimentary water, a 75cl bottle of champagne, and vouchers for two complimentary drinks at the bar. These were lovely gestures that certainly made a positive first impression. The hotel was clean, the staff were helpful and professional, and the location was very convenient. Access to Amsterdam's city centre was straightforward, with the nearby ferry making it especially easy to enjoy everything we had planned. However, a few aspects of our experience fell short of expectations. First, external construction work on Saturday morning significantly disturbed our peace and sleep. While we understand that such work may be beyond the hotel's control, a simple advance notice would have been greatly appreciated. The restaurant was unfortunately another disappointment. The food was excessively salty, particularly the octopus main course, which was also surprisingly small in portion size. We were equally surprised to discover that a simple request for bread was billed as a separate dish. Overall, I would rate the restaurant experience 4/10, which is disappointing considering the hotel's otherwise excellent standards. Last but certainly not least, the complimentary drinks offered as part of our welcome came with restrictions that were not clearly communicated. We only discovered that the vouchers were valid during specific hours when we attempted to use them. Consequently, we were unable to enjoy this gesture at all. A complimentary gift should feel like a genuine gesture of hospitality, not an offer that becomes unavailable because of undisclosed conditions. In conclusion, Room Mate Aitana has a lot to offer: beautiful accommodation, thoughtful welcome amenities, helpful staff, and an excellent location. However, genuine hospitality is also about transparency, attention to detail, and consistency throughout the guest experience. With better communication, improved restaurant quality, and more flexibility around complimentary offers, what was a pleasant stay could easily have become an exceptional one."
