Mercure Amsterdam North Station

"I chose this hotel as it was in a quieter area but with easy transport to the centre and it certainly fulfilled those aims. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were clean and well-equipped in fairly fresh decor. Lovely rainfall shower but some minor issues with hot water. Very pleasant toiletries supplied - hand wash, shower gel and shampoo. Plenty of towels. Breakfast offering was superb with no limits and nothing missing. I would certainly recommend this hotel. M"

"We had stayed here previously so knew what to expect. On checking in we were allowed to check in early and were upgraded to a triple room and given a voucher for a free drink in the bar which was a nice surprise. However, I found this room noisier than our twin we’d stayed in previously. I could hear banging from another room at times, when someone used their shower the pipes squealed and I was kept awake with a child in another room screaming for over 30 at 5am. I know some of this is not the fault of the hotel but it did affect my quality of sleep. There was also some noise from the bus station/road. We stayed on the other side of the hotel last year overlooking the college and it was much quieter. We found the beds comfortable though and slept well the other nights. The breakfast was good with a good selection of hot and cold food to choose from. The location is ideal a quick trip on the metro and you’re in Amsterdam (they run every 6 minutes). We also noticed on several occasions a few bags of rubbish and otter litter on the floor by the public bins outside the hotel which doesn’t give a good first impression of the hotel. On checking out we were able to store our bags in the hotel and spend the day sightseeing without dragging our luggage with us. I would more than likely stay here again due to location and it being a comfortable, clean hotel."
