Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Zaandam

Rarely will you stay in a hotel as visually striking as this one in Zaandam, a small city just a few kilometres north of Amsterdam. It makes an excellent base for exploring the Dutch capital, while also having plenty to offer itself. On the outside, the hotel is a prime Instagram hotspot, with an impressive facade comprising dozens of brightly coloured, traditional Zaan-style houses stacked on top of one another. 

Inside, expect a fresh, modern vibe, with spacious rooms featuring photography and artwork that nods to the region’s heritage. There’s no better way to round off a day of sightseeing than heading to the wellness area for a dip in the indoor pool, or a relaxing session in the Finnish sauna or Turkish steam bath. 

Tuck into the plentiful buffet breakfast offering in the mornings, and, if you feel like eating in, check out the Puur Saen restaurant, whose à la carte menu celebrates fresh, local produce and culinary tradition. It’s a lovely place for an evening drink, too, either inside or on the terrace by the water. 

Zaandam station is just over the road, with regular trains heading into Amsterdam Central – a journey that takes only 12 minutes. If you’re happy staying somewhere a little further out with more of a low key feel than the city centre, this might just be the ideal place for you.
