Rustic-chic hotel by the Museum Quarter

The Hotel van de Vijsel is unlike any other hotel in Amsterdam. Once home to a family timber business, this beautifully restored building retains original wood features throughout, combined with strikingly modern detailing. Its location in hip Overtoom, five minute’s walk from the Museum Quarter and gorgeous Vondelpark, places it amongst some of the city’s biggest cultural sites.

In keeping with the hotel’s stunning aesthetic, the appropriately-named Cafe Woodz is a cool spot to hang out in, where you can grab a coffee and mingle with Amsterdam’s trendiest locals. Brunch is served all day too.

The rooms have a minimalist Scandi-chic feel, with lots of custom-designed wooden fittings and white linen upholstery. This entire museum is dedicated to him, with a fabulous collection of over 200 paintings and 500 drawings, as well as personal letters and artifacts. And it’s all only 10 minutes from the hotel on foot.

    Heineken Experience

    If you’re a fan of Dutch beer, this experience is for you. From the hotel, it’s a 15-minute walk to join a tour of Heineken’s oldest brewery. You’ll learn about the history of the iconic lager, as well as the processes that go into making it. When you’re finished, you’ll get to have a taste, and even pour yourself a pint!
