A striking, futuristic glass tower
If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this hotel’s not central-central, and that’s the point. It’s set beside the A2/A9 in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, so it’s great if you’re thinking of renting a car and don’t mind a short commute into town. It’s also an easy walk – or use the free shuttle – to Amsterdam Holendrecht metro station, which is about 15 minutes away. From there, it’s a simple ride straight to Amsterdam Centraal, which will only take around 20 minutes.
The building itself is that shiny, round glass tower that you just can’t miss, with big views over the city and surrounding countryside. Inside, the vibe’s ultra-modern and super-functional, with free Wi-Fi and on-site parking that makes hire-car days really easy. Food-wise, the star of the show is the SKY Bar & Lounge Pi and SKY Restaurant Pi at the top, where you can tuck into dinner or a drink while the city lights twinkle in the distance. There’s also a more casual spot for breakfast and simple meals.
If you fancy extra buzz, just hop on the metro to the nearby ArenA area for big-name concerts, watch Ajax in the top tier of Dutch football, indulge in some shopping and find even more places to eat. If you’re happy to trade canals-on-the-doorstep for space, views and easy motorway access, this is a fun, futuristic and solid base to stay in Amsterdam.
