Sushi, souks, and sunsets

Come for the souks, stay for the sushi – and the rooftop you’ll end up talking about long after. This is Marrakech with a cooler head: a confident blend of Moroccan detail and Japanese restraint, with just enough indulgence to keep things interesting.

Set in the city’s Golden Triangle, it’s all mint tea mornings and mountain views, followed by evenings that slide effortlessly into Nobu signatures and cocktails worth lingering over. Head upstairs and you’ll find the real scene-stealer – the Atlas Mountains on full display, a DJ in the corner, and a crowd that knows exactly why they’re here.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

Hotel highlights

Let’s be honest – you’re here for the food. And it delivers. Nobu means black cod miso and yellowtail sashimi, but the menu has just enough locally influenced plates to keep things rooted in Marrakech. Punchy, yes, but with the confidence to pull back – exactly as it should be.

Then there’s the bar: low-lit, gently buzzy, and very good at encouraging ‘just one more’. Cocktails come with personality – think floral notes, citrus twists, and the occasional umami edge. Aperitifs at golden hour are an easy yes, late nights stretch into something more atmospheric, and time has a habit of meandering – in the best way.

You’re in Hivernage here, Marrakech’s polished answer to the medina’s beautiful chaos. Close enough to dive headfirst into the souks, yet far enough to retreat before it tips from charming to full-blown sensory overload. Step out and you’re within easy reach of the Koutoubia Mosque’s iconic silhouette, the buzz of Jemaa-el-Fnaa – all street performers and spice-laden air – or the leafy calm of Jardin Majorelle, with the medina’s maze never far behind.

Get lost, linger, take it all in – knowing there’s a well-earned exhale waiting back at base. Or perhaps something stronger.

Downstairs, things shift gear. The spa leans into a quieter kind of luxury – less show, more substance – blending Moroccan ritual with Japanese precision. There’s a proper hammam for when you want the full reset, plus a series of treatment rooms that do an excellent job of undoing long flights, late nights, or both.

If you book one thing, make it the Japanese Silk treatment – a signature ritual designed to restore balance and get circulation moving again, using Natura Bissé products that know exactly what they’re doing. Afterwards, there’s a mosaic-lined pool, steam room, and a serenity in the air that might have you cancelling any remaining plans. You’ll emerge better for it – and probably a little reluctant to leave.

This is a place that lets you set the tempo. Mornings might to start at the gym – a surprisingly serious space for those who like their endorphins with Technogym precision – or, you might drift straight to the rooftop pool, where laps are optional and lingering is encouraged. Cabanas, a slow soundtrack, and that Atlas Mountain backdrop do most of the heavy lifting.

When (if) you do decide to move, Marrakech is right there. The concierge can shape the day around you – guided medina wanders, cultural deep dives, or a table booked somewhere worth dressing for. But there’s no pressure to optimise every hour. Return, reset, and take your time over it all – ideally with something cold in hand and nowhere else to be.

That scene-stealing circular rooftop pool. By day: calm water and mountain views. By starlight: good cocktails, great conversation, and an atmosphere that makes staying put the only sensible option.

The food – no surprises there. From the signature dishes the world has come to expect – hello sashimi – to the locally influenced plates, it's a menu that bears rearranging your evening for.

That Marrakech is always within reach, but never overwhelming. Dip into the medina, wander the souks, and then retreat back to slower, cooler surroundings to plot your next move.
