Fairmont Taghazout Bay

"We had a great stay at the Fairmont overall. We had a couple of issues which were quickly resolved including a change of room from ground floor to first floor. On one evening we had a very unsatisfactory experience in the Beef and Reef restaurant with a very long wait for very disappointing food. This was resolved by removing the food from our bill and later in the stay we were given a couple of complimentary dishes. We preferred the Tapas bar and Italian restaurant above Morimoto (the loud music here must divide opinions) and Beef and Reef. Breakfast was excellent. Our room was great - spacious with desk space and plentiful sockets and usb ports. Standalone shower and bath in the bathroom. Everything spotlessly clean and the housekeeping staff we met were lovely. There does seem to be an issue with the management of housekeeping, most days our room wasn’t serviced until around 4.30pm which tended to be when we returned to it hoping for a rest. We had a turndown service only a couple of times and not until the second week of our stay. However, there was a very prompt response to clear up a broken bottle. Room service is very swift and efficient, we ate on our balcony one evening. We arranged car hire through the concierge, which worked out very well, including extending the hire by a couple of days. I would recommend this - we explored up and down the coast and into the mountains, a lovely experience. Spa treatments and facilities were very good (although Hammam was unavailable unfortunately). Service at the pools and beach for snacks and drinks was also very good, with very charming and helpful staff. The beach itself is fantastic, very clean, body boards and other surf equipment available to hire at the hotel. Lots to watch from the hotel sunbeds which are in a private area. We had drinks by the fire pit at the beach bar to watch the sunset on several evenings - a lovely spot, The promenade runs along the beach. Turning left from the hotel you come to a small collection of restaurants which were only open at lunchtime when we visited, maybe different in high season. None serve alcohol. It’s also a very nice walk along the beach. Turning right from the hotel you pass a number of hotels and a golf course, plenty of benches to stop and watch the world go by. About an hour to walk to Taghazout which has a number of restaurants (no alcohol) and plenty of shopping opportunities. It has a backpacker feel to it and is easy to get a taxi back to the hotel (100 dirham)."

"We travelled here October half term and had a lovely week in the sunshine. Hotel pools are great and beach just outside - all beautiful and loads of sun beds. The restaurants were all great for dinner - there is very little outside the hotel in walking distance so we were limited to eating at the hotel. But food was nice and service excellent in the evening too. HOWEVER - the lunch service at beef and reef was terrible. Twice we ate there and both times waited well over an hour for food. The second time we complained and they didn’t charge us. But ours kids were miserable by this point. The service around the poolside is also terrible. If you manage to locate someone to order a drink from you can then expect to wait around 40 mins for your drink to arrive if it turns up at all. For the price of the food and drinks you expect more. Same with food around the poolside - very inconsistent with whether it will arrive within an hour of ordering. But the rooms were clean and all staff were lovely. Just needs big improvements in daytime service. Also our room wasn’t ready at 3pm to check in. We had a long day travelling then were made to wait 40 mins to be able to go in our room which was frustrating."

"The hotel was great. The location right next to the beach and local village were amazing and made me want to come back. There were many pools catering for everyone, such as an adult only pool with a bar. And a lively, big family pool with a restaurant right next door and popcorn, donuts and other sweet things being sold. There were many different restaurants all serving different cuisines such as, Japanese, Italian, “beef and reef” and tapas. Each one offered amazing unique flavours. However there were some problems which need to be worked on. Firstly, the rooms were quite slow to be cleaned and room service was also quite slow. The food wasn’t always fresh and orders weren’t always perfectly accurate. The hotel also occasionally failed to help plan things These problems however, did not stop me from having a wonderful holiday"
