Bay of Kotor bliss
Dobrota is the Bay of Kotor’s laid-back waterfront neighbour, stretching along the shore just outside Kotor Old Town. Think stone houses with little jetties, palm-and-cypress-lined promenades, and that calm, glassy water that makes you want to swim “just once more” before dinner. It’s got the same jaw-drop scenery as the rest of the bay, with mountains rising dramatically behind you, but the vibe is noticeably quieter and more local.
The best part? You’re close enough to Kotor to dip into the action whenever you like. Pop into the old town for cobbled lanes, cathedral squares and gelato stops, then come back to Dobrota for a slower evening walk by the water. If you’re feeling energetic, the fortress hike above Kotor delivers huge views (and a lot of steps), while day trips to Perast add postcard promenades and a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks. Tivat and Porto Montenegro are also within easy reach when you fancy a little marina gloss and boutique browsing.
Dobrota’s holiday rhythm is beautifully simple: morning coffee with a view, a jetty swim, a long lunch of grilled fish and local wine, then sunset strolling as the bay turns silver. It’s calm, scenic, and quietly addictive.
