"We stayed at The Waterfront Hotel for 4 nights in May and from check in to check out everything at this hotel was lovely. We had a side room on the 11th floor with a view of the harbour and surrounding buildings. It did get a little windy but I am sure in the hot summer months that wind would be nice to have whilst sat on the balcony. The room was cleaned every day to an exceptional standard, the bedroom was very tastefully decorated in navy/white decor, the bed was so so comfy. The bathroom was well set out with a lovely walk in shower with complimentary bath/hair/shower gel. Towels are changed every day (if you need them) and there is tea/coffee making facilities in the room including a kettle. There is also a safe, ironing board and mini fridge. The hotel itself it extremely clean in the public area and there are lots of chairs to sit and have a drink in the reception area plus tables to the left where bar snacks and evening meal can be taken (if not dining in the restaurant). Breakfast was excellent with a large selection of cold and hot options plus a GF station set aside from the main area which I think would be appreciated. Coffee and tea is self service from either the tea section, a free standing machine or specialities served by staff. I had excellent cappuccinos from both options. The strip outside the hotel is a myriad of shops, bars and restaurants and facing this is the harbour where you can choose to take a trip to various locations/islands close by. Buses run along the main road and there are plenty to take you to various points around the island and into Valetta itself. The buses run regularly and are extremely cheap, they do get packed but they are that frequent you could let one go knowing there will be another one soon.
Back to the hotel, the staff in all areas of the hotel were a credit to the establishment, so helpful and courteous. There is an indoor pool which we didn't use but had a quick peep in and it looked lovely. There is an outdoor pool that guests have access to across the road from the hotel but we didn't use that either, perhaps if the sun had been beating down we would have done but only have 4 days we wanted to see as much of the island as we could.
I would say if you are thinking of booking this hotel do so before it get booked up. It's centrally located, it's an ideal base if you want to see other parts of the island. Not sure about hiring a car as we didn't but one benefit is the Maltese drive on the left. Beware the streets in Sliema are very congested and very narrow. You would need nerves of steel driving around Valetta - not for the faint hearted. I had been told 'you either love or hate Malta' and I am now in the former camp and will be coming back at a later date and perhaps stay around St Paul's Bay as we didn't get that far this time; but as a first time stay The Waterfront Hotel was a marvellous introduction to Malta and a first class hotel. Well done everybody there."
