"A superb 14 day holiday at the Barcelo Fortina Malta.
The Barcelo staff as usual are wonderful wherever we go. Always welcoming and helpful. ❤️
We arrived early at 11:00 am and as expected the room was not ready, but we stored our luggage and went sight seeing until we received a call from reception at 13:30 to say the suite was ready.
The room was a huge room with a balcony with similar proportions.
An 8 seater dining table and a jacuzzi in the corner.
No view over the harbour unfortunately 😭, but we did get a coastal view and watched the 10:30 boat chase each morning along the coast by all the yachts, boats, and cruisers trying to get the best berth in Gozo.😀
Then the return race back at 17:30 at night.
The room was kept immaculate by the wonderful staff each day and a lovely turndown service each night.
We were only staying B&B, as there are so many fantastic restaurants in Sliema and in Valletta ( only 5 minutes away by ferry, and only 5 euros return).
Breakfast was great with so much variety. The egg station was great for poached eggs, omelettes and pancakes.
The cream cheese and salmon bagels were superb.
We ate at the Manta beach club one night and it is a fantastic setting and great food.
Well worth a visit, as is Tora, the Asian restaurant above Manta. We ate there twice.
The hotel indoor gym,spa and pool facilities are superb.
Probably some of the best we have ever seen at a Barcelo resort, and we stay regularly at Barcelo Hotels.
THE ONLY HOTEL NEGATIVE:-⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is where Fortina loses its 5 star crown. 😢😥
Manta is where the Barcelo have been allocated their small area of sunbeds tucked away in the far corner. Its a 3rd party agreement.😢
A nice area, but away from the pool area.
Not as shown or advertised by the photos in the Barcelo Group Internet package, which is very disappointing to see.
Manta wants the wealthy clientele that are paying 150 to 200 euros a day for the fancy Gazebo's. Or 30 to 40 euros for sunbeds. It's their business plan and works well for them.
Barcelo customers have been squeezed into a very tight area below the Tignes promenade. Not very 5 stars.
It's a shame, but it is what it is.
We would have loved to spend a few hours per day chilling by the pool drinking a few Mojitos, but it wasn't to be, unfortunately.
We never went to the Barcelo area as it was far too crammed, but luckily we had our own terrace and tub to chill on.
BACK TO THE POSITIVES.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The hotel is in a quiet area of the city even though you may think it's busy.😀
Pop round to the St Julian's area. It's bouncing and way too busy for us.🎶🚗🏃♂️🏃♀️🍻🍺
Sliema is ideal for all boat trips and tours.
Thank you Barcelo for another wonderful stay, even though a bit disappointing.
P.s. PLEASE WATER THE PLANT ON THE BALCONY IN 946. ❤️
It was dead when we arrived.
We brought it back to life. 🪴🚿🚿"
