Palazzo Barbarigo

"Unfortunately the hotel is clearly decadent . The region is good , with shopping and eating options options and easy access to vaporetto . But the hotel itself is reacheable by a very difficult and narrow street . The staff is only two persons night and day . They are helpful but evidently they are exhausted . The elevator do not work and even there are rooms on the ground floor , the breakfast is on the first floor . There are no room service or restaurant . The room is spacious but very dark .. The shower is obstructed with calcarium and the towels had holes ! . The price is high to such an absence of services we do expect on a four star hotel . We would not repeat the experience ."

"We had this hotel booked for 3 nights. We had a warm welcome and was told that our room was upgraded. We were given room 6 on the first floor. We dropped our luggage and had to go as we had a reservation at the tower to make. When we got back everything went down hill. We got to the room and it smelled very bad of mold and mildew. Not just faint but strong. As we looked around the room we noticed large spots were the paint was falling off the wall along with plaster. Especially by the door and the window. We were facing the Grand Canal. We tried to use the usb ports to charge things and they did not work. We got the night clerk and he could not get them to work. We asked for different towels as the towels provided were stained and had big holes. He said he didn’t have any. Same with the stained bed sheets. He said they could change in the AM. I also asked him to move us as the smell was so strong. He agreed but they were full and there nothing that we could do. So I said in the AM we would have to move to another room as this room was a health hazard. He said he didn’t think that they would be able to. I said we would have to move hotels if that was the case. At 5 am, all the power in our room went out. We couldn’t see in the bathroom and we had to use a flash light to shower in the AM. Around 9, I went out to the manager and said we needed to move rooms and she said she had nothing available. I said we have not power. She just shrugged her shoulders and told us that we could change hotels. They would not charge us for the night. We found a new hotel and had to pay for a water taxi to move to a much nicer hotel. I would not recommended this hotel at all."

"Fantastic experience - wonderful room with view at the Canal Grande, warm welcome and service, rich breakfast! Very interesting shops in the neighborhoud, good restaurants (Casin dei Nobili 5 minutes walk). You feel immediately like at home, but with luxury!"
