Hotel Locanda Ca' Foscari

"We arrived at 5 pm, nobody at reception, had a code to enter. We knew there was no elevator and had to climb to the third floor with heavy bags , a sore hip but didnt know it was 6 flights of stairs to get to the third floor!!!. We got to our room finally and saw that we were directly beside the breakfast room! On openning our bedroom door we see two little cots, couldnt call them twin beds even. The covers were polyester and old. the pillows and sheets were fine. The bathroom was nice and modern but the room was shabby. Next morning we were awoken by breakfast prep right outside our door and had not planned on getting up so early. We got ready and went to reception to let the host Andrea know how disappointed we were that we didnt have any idea it would be such a climb of 6 flights to get to our room and the breakfast area right outside our door. The house was advertised as a former palace and we said it was not as we had anticipated and that people should be made aware of this online before booking. He said," if its not a palace,what do we call it, we said a rundown house! then he walked away and said he wasnt listening to our complaints, we said it was constructive criticism. then he opened the door and ushered us out! we were in disbelief. When we returned that evening, there was nobody there, we went to our room and the AC was turned off and they had been in our room. We did not request any services and had the door locked. This was creepy! We left the following morning , We saw Andre but he ran away! A girl was at reception and she was very friendly. If none of this bothers you, go ahead and book as the location is great but The king of the palace does not take kindly to any negativity, no matter how its presented."

"I know that the hotel is very basic and that there is no air con,that the WiFi only works on the ground floor, that it has no coffee or fridge etc…but I give it a four stars because it is super well located, and the people were friendly and helpful, and it had all what we needed. My husband and I spent 4night there. Our room was basic with a small wardrobe , a comfortable double bed and a fan which was quite effective , even though we were there during the heat wave period. We also had a shower room , we were provided with a set of two towels each which were changed after three days, the room was cleaned every day. But the best thing about the hotel it was that it’s location. It is very near to the river us Station S Toma, and at 15 minutes on foot from Piazzale Roma where the airport bus is. The hotel is situated in Ca’Frescati, although the address is Ca’Foscari. When you want to find it always write Hotel Locanda Ca’Foscari Venice. From the door of the hotel if you walk straight on , there is a restaurant called “Pizzeria,ristorante de Sara” it is very reasonable, it has the best cuttlefish and polenta dish, as well as the best tiramisu,which can be enjoyed in a garden. Lovely when you’re fed up with exploring and you want to have your dinner nearby. My husband and I know about seafood and trust me the food is delicious. Both the hotel and the restaurant are at a reasonable price. My husband and I wanted to enjoy exploring Venice and getting lost in it, so the hotel was just what we needed and I would easily go back."

"No okay hotel/room whatsoever could EVER excuse such bad behaviour from an older man (staff from reception) yelling at a full-paying guest just because of a conversational language misunderstanding. ABSOLUTE NO GO; SHAME ON YOU, mister! NO RECOMMODATION - NEVER EVER AGAIN !"
