"We visited at the end of May for our honeymoon and it’s safe to say I have very limited nice things to say about this hotel.
On arrival they struggled to find our booking on the system despite me showing them the documentation.
Once they found our booking, I advised them I had been messaging them on WhatsApp about booking the spa as it was our honeymoon. I told them I had enquired about a certain package and they just kept trying to continue to encourage us to pay for a more expensive one. No congratulations or any emotion whatsoever. It took 20 minutes of us repeating what package we wanted and not the one they had on promotion.
After check in, we went to our room which was located on the ground floor so that was useful. It was much smaller than in the pictures and was just a basic room which was fine as we spent most of our time out. However, the room had no sound proofing at all and kept us up most nights. On the final night, the people next door to us decided to have an argument that lasted from 11pm until they checked out at 4pm. I whatsapped the hotel to say about the noise as I didn’t want to leave the room, waited an hour and they did nothing. I then went down to reception and they advised they couldn’t leave the desk so would telephone them. As I went back to my room, I heard their phone ring and the group say ‘I am not answering that phone because we will be in trouble’. The arguing continued, items were smashed and they then shouted they had flooded the bathroom and it was leaking into the hallway. At this point I went to reception again, and nothing. I finally managed to sleep once they had checked out at 4am and checked out ourselves at 10am. No apology or support was provided by the hotel.
Transport was also not explained to us. We had no idea how the tickets worked or where to get the tram from and ended up with a 100 euro fine. Thank goodness for Google and local residents who kindly helped us.
When it was time for our spa treatments, we were given a set time of 4pm. We sat waiting for it in our room to get a telephone call at 2pm to say ‘they were now waiting and needed to see us earlier as the masseuse needed to leave and would not do the later time’. We of course went down and reception told us off despite me explaining that it was not the time we agreed on.
My husband’s phone was lost on this trip. I asked reception for the lost and found number and the police number to report it as lost. They said ‘the number doesn’t work’ so I made my way down to the local transport office who provided me with the information. The phone was found the next day and we were advised we had to collect it. I showed reception the address of the collection point to which they responded ‘far away’. I asked if they could phone for a taxi which they did and we were dropped off in the middle of nowhere. Thank goodness we came across someone who spoke English and helped us get to the office to collect the phone and return back to the hotel.
On our last day, we were issued by easyJet with a warning for country wide strikes and delays and cancellations with travel. We asked the hotel for updates in the local area to which they replied ‘don’t know’. Super helpful!!
The icing on the cake was when the maid removed a sentimental item from our room without our knowledge. On return to the room, I noticed it was gone from the bed. We had only nipped down for a coffee and within 20 minutes it was gone. I went to reception straight away and was greeted with laughing and the response ‘At least it wasn’t £10,000’. It doesn’t matter whether it was free or 1 million pounds, I have had that item for 30 years and it was taken without my consent! It is also not replaceable. I asked to speak to the manager who was always conveniently busy. If I did get any luck speaking to anyone, they told me ‘to check back later’ ‘the maids have finished for the day’ or just laughed at me. On our last day, I left my details in case they came across the item and informed easyJet. The hotel lied to easyJet and said they had been giving me regular updates and had asked me to leave my details in case it was found. NOT TRUE. Since our return home, I have been messaging the hotel and funnily enough am still waiting for the manager to make contact with me regarding my complaint of an item being stolen from my room and staff attitude.
In general, staff at reception were rude and acted so inconvenienced with any sort of question or even a greeting. It was like they didn’t want to be there.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Good points:
- location is good and it’s super easy to just get the tram
- reception and communal areas are clean and modern
- good variety at breakfast"
