Boutique hotel on the Venice Lido
This boutique hotel sits outside the centre of Venice on an island called the Venice Lido. Just a short stroll away is one of the best sandy beaches in Northern Italy, where you can pitch up beneath one of the hotel’s own sunbeds. Head to the other side of the island, and you’re only a short ride on a water bus from Venice’s major hotspots, like Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge.
If you’re visiting Venice to see some of the city’s famous galleries and art exhibitions, you might want to kick things off with a tour of the hotel itself – it’s a gallery in its own right, with the works of contemporary artists displayed on its walls. Enjoy your breakfast beneath a modern masterpiece in the dining room, alongside a sculpture in the garden or, if you’re feeling sleepy, you can even have it served in your room.
The rooms are quiet and bright with elegant furniture and comfy beds. They include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a TV, and a gorgeous bathroom stocked with luxury toiletries.

What Villa Pannonia has to offer
St Mark’s Basilica
St Mark's Basilica is a golden-domed cathedral dating back to the 11th century. It sits at the east end of the city centre next to the Doge's Palace, which will take just under 30 minutes by water bus to reach from the hotel. Inside, you'll see intricate mosaics, great works of Renaissance art from Titian and Tintoretto, and a stunning golden altar decorated with over 2,000 precious stones.
Visit the Armenian Monastery
San Lazzaro degli Armeni is a serene island retreat 20 minutes from the hotel by public transport. Since 1717, it has been the home of the Armenian Catholic Monastery, which gained fame when the poet Lord Byron studied there. Today, it houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to Byron and operates the world's oldest continuously functioning Armenian publishing house, established in 1789. Immerse yourself in the island’s rich history by joining one of the daily tours organised by the monks who call it home.
Cycle to the Alberoni Nature Reserve
At the southern end of the Lido island, you’ll discover the Alberoni Nature Reserve, a protected oasis known for its stunning natural beauty and diverse wildlife. It features a unique ecosystem made up of a lush pine forest and sand dunes that can reach up to nine metres. These dunes are home to rare bird species like the Kentish Plover and the Little Tern, so you might want to pack a pair of binoculars. A leisurely cycle or bus ride will get you there in approximately 40 minutes.
