Relaxing retreat on the Venice Lido
Facing across the Lagoon of Venice towards the main city itself, this Art Nouveau villa sits on an island only a short ride on a vaporetto from the bustle of the Piazza San Marco. Being on an island has its advantages – gorgeous beaches of golden sand are only a short stroll away, while the unspoiled Alberoni Nature Reserve is a must if you love the outdoors.
You can expect to dine well at Villa Mabapa, starting with a breakfast buffet of local delicacies and eggs cooked to order. In the evening, the restaurant serves Venetian classics in a candlelit dining room or out on the garden terrace, with views of the twinkling city lights across the water. Fancy a nightcap? Treat yourself to a spritz from the garden bar as the sun goes down.
Prepare to be charmed by the rooms, which are decorated in an unmistakably Venetian style. They’re all kitted out with modern amenities too, like air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, television and tea and coffee making facilities.

What Villa Mabapa has to offer
St Mark’s Basilica
This magnificent golden-domed cathedral, dating back to the 11th century, sits at the east end of the city centre next to the Doge's Palace. The interiors are decked with intricate mosaics, great works of Renaissance art from Titian and Tintoretto, and a stunning golden altar decorated with over 2,000 precious stones. Jump on a water taxi to reach this stunning basilica within 40 minutes.
Visit the Armenian Monastery
San Lazzaro degli Armeni is a serene island retreat just 20 minutes from the hotel by public transport. Since 1717, it has been the home of the Armenian Catholic Monastery, which gained fame when the poet Lord Byron studied there. Today, it houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to Byron and operates the world's oldest continuously functioning Armenian publishing house, established in 1789.
Cycle to the Alberoni Nature Reserve
At the southern end of the Lido, you’ll discover the Alberoni Nature Reserve, a protected oasis known for its stunning natural beauty and diverse wildlife. It features a unique ecosystem made up of a lush pine forest and sand dunes that can reach as high as nine metres. These dunes are home to rare bird species like the Kentish Plover and the Little Tern, so you might want to pack a pair of binoculars. A leisurely cycle on a rented bike will get you there in approximately half an hour, or hop on a bus to reach the reserve in under an hour.
