Fall in love with Lucca

A 15-minute stroll from the historical walls of Lucca's Old Town, Hotel San Marco is a great base for a few days spent exploring this charming corner of Tuscany. And you won't be short on ways to fill your time while you're here. The city is teeming with history and culture – piazzas, basilicas, and museums are hidden around practically every corner. Explore on foot or rent bikes from hotel reception and pedal your way around town.

You're in a great spot for exploring the rest of Tuscany, too. The beaches of Versilia and the Leaning Tower of Pisa are both easily reachable once you get to grips with the trains, while Florence is a couple of hours away by bus. If you've got a car, even better! You can explore the countryside at your own pace, taking time to stop off at a winery (or two).

Find out more about Lucca

At the foot of the Apuan Alps, the walled city of Lucca is one of Tuscany’s greatest glories. A patchwork of slanted red roofs, narrow medieval towers and sherbet-hued houses, this historic gem is both remarkably well-preserved and full of modern life, with lively markets and chic boutiques.
