"This was not our first stay at the Principi nor will it be our last. This establishment served as home for my husband for the better part of 2 years while he was in Torino on work. Although we had not visited in almost 17 years, when we walked back in, some of the faces had changed but still, it felt like home. This hotel is a 5-star hotel for a reason. It treats its customers like family and ensures they want for nothing. Upon entering the lobby, the front desk or bell men (or both) greet you and ask if you require anything. The people there can help you with everything from getting additional linens in your room, to booking you a side trip to Asti, to making dinner reservations. They truly are there to help. Sylvia is who helped us with our group room reservation since we were there for work and really went above and beyond to help. The hotel is in a great location for food, shops, and museums.
If you’re in the mood for a nice beverage or snack after a long day of work or shopping, you can stop for a drink at the bar. Each of the barmen at the Prinicipi provide exemplary service in a professional manner. The head barman, Flavio, is really a craftsman in his own regard. Be sure to stop in and ask him to make you something special. As an award winning barman and ambassador for the Italian hospitality industry, he is really an amazing asset. Davide, Stefano, Elisabeta, and Melissa round out the rest of the team. Davide and Stefano are the other two barmen we got to know well on this trip and we really enjoyed our evenings with them. In fact, we had so much fun at the bar, we never even made it to the beautiful spa. I did go take a look and the facilities are amazing.
As I mentioned, while some of the faces have changed since we were there last, the lovelyness of the hotel has not. The rooms are impeccably cleaned and maintained and have a wonderful variety of amenities which was wonderful after a long day of work. One change we weren’t really a fan of was the bar itself. It seems that since we left, the bar area has been renovated. The renovation is very nice with great sitting areas and nice lighting. However the look of the bar is very much overshadowed by the large drink service machine sitting on the bar. It makes the area look cluttered and frankly, ugly. It doesn't fit with the beautiful motif of the bar and doesn't seem to work either. This machine should be removed if nothing more than aesthetic purposes. Also, I find it more enjoyable when the barman pours my glass for me, as opposed to some machine doing it. Just seems like a waste and it takes away from the ambiance.
The hotel, its rooms, its staff, and its location make it perfect and we will continue to visit for decades to come."
