Clifftop hideaway overlooking the Gulf of Naples
Boasting magnificent views looking out across the glistening blue waters of the Gulf of Naples, Hotel Mary is a truly idyllic clifftop escape on Italy’s Sorrento Coast.
The outdoor infinity pool and sun terrace offers a tranquil space to unwind and embrace the gorgeous setting with a drink of your choice from the poolside bar. Alternatively, take a stroll down to the Sea Club, which offers shaded sun loungers, a snack bar and direct access to the Mediterranean Sea – perfect for a refreshing dip.
Expect rooms with a light, airy feel, tastefully decorated with a marine blue colour palette that compliments the hotel’s coastal setting. You’ll eat well, too, with a generous buffet breakfast in the mornings, and the Vistamare restaurant offering an a la carte Italian menu for lunch and dinner. If the weather suits, why not dine on the outdoor terrace overlooking the sea?
The town of Vico Equense is right on your doorstep and well worth exploring for its ornate architecture and superb pizzerias and gelato shops. You’re also well placed for day trips to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, should you be up for an adventure or two while you’re there.

Find out more about Vico Equense
Holidays to Vico Equense promise grandstand views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius – a result of this coastal town’s clifftop setting. It’s only 10 kilometres from Sorrento, so it’s often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbour. But this historical town is worth way more than just a stopover.
Vico Equense is packed with Baroque churches, dinky gelato cafés and restaurants serving ‘pizza a metro’ – pizza cut by the metre. Vico Equense is famous for it, courtesy of chef Gigino Dell’Amura, who first served it in his eatery in the Thirties. The Gigino pizzeria is still going strong today, and it’s a real must-visit. Fine dining is also a big deal in these parts – Vico Equense has one of the biggest concentrations of Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy.
Despite its high-up location, this place also deals in beautiful beaches. Walk down the steep slopes or catch a bus to the sleepy coves carved out of the rockface below.
