Grand Hotel Vesuvio

"The Grand Hotel Vesuvio may once have lived up to its name, but unfortunately it now feels tired and in need of investment. Many areas seem dated and lacking the welcoming atmosphere you would expect from a four-star hotel. The reception staff during the day could be friendlier. A smile and a more welcoming attitude would make a much better first impression. In contrast, the restaurant staff were consistently pleasant, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. The biggest disappointment was the food. It was the poorest dining experience we’ve had at a hotel. The menu offered very little choice, the portions felt overly restricted, and the presentation was uninspiring. Meals were served on chipped and damaged crockery, which only added to the feeling that standards have slipped. The rooms include a minibar fridge, but bottled water comes at an extra charge. While the hotel states that the tap water is safe to drink, we personally preferred not to risk it. There is no kettle in the room as standard. If you request one, the hotel will provide it, but you are expected to supply your own tea, coffee, milk, etc . There is also no iron or ironing facilities available in the room, which is disappointing for a hotel of this rating. The complimentary toiletries are only sample-sized, which may not be sufficient for more than a very short stay. The pool area could also do with some attention. You are given one pool towel, but if you want a fresh one, there is a €5 charge for each replacement. The sun loungers, like much of the hotel, appear to have seen better days. One real positive was the complimentary shuttle bus into Sorrento. It was reliable, punctual, and made it easy to get into town for meals and to escape the uninspiring hotel .The drivers were friendly, helpful, and a credit to the hotel. Overall, while there were some positives—particularly the restaurant staff and shuttle service—the hotel no longer reflects the standard you would expect from a four-star property. With some investment, improved attention to detail, and a better dining experience, it could once again live up to its name. What a shame . One thing this hotel has that they couldn’t spoil is the View , truly spectacular"

"Loved the hotel, it was just as good if not better than on their website. Everything was perfect for the whole of our six night stay in Sorrento. Breakfast being included in your room price is a great bonus but the other big plus is the free shuttle bus back and fore from the hotel into the town center. Leaving from 9am regularly until 11pm (excluded siesta time 1-4pm). The hotel is situated in a beautiful hillside location looking out at Mount Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples with the town center about 25 minute walk downhill. Customer Service from hotel staff is brilliant. Helpful in every way. We would happily return to the Grand Vesuvio if we return to Sorrento."

"Just back from a fantastic week here. Hotel spotless clean, spacious , sea view incredible. Staff so friendly and helpful, biggest mention to Brixton he works so hard always with a smile and exceptional service, he made my family so welcome and made us laugh lots , people like him make a difference and the hotel should be proud of him ! Night time entertainment music just right for us coming back after dinner We were half board,breakfast ok, we prefer to eat out in town so many amazing places so swapped for lunch which was fine lots of choices. The dinner menu wasn’t for us Lots of sun beds lovely big pool Shuttle bus great but get there early at busy times as fills up. Trip to positano ravello Amalfi organised through hotel fabulous , driver we had was an amazing guide , other trips seem to be cheaper through hotel too we found"
