"We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Jaccarino from June 4th for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived everything was just perfect. Raffaella & Matteo on reception could not be more helpful and were happy to answer any questions we had.
We paid extra for a balcony room with a view of Mt Vesuvius which was just breath taking, so for the lady complaining in the previous review who got her room upgrade for free, really?.
The Hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff are welcoming and cheery. Please see some hopefully helpful information below.
1. Breakfast is served between 07:00-10:00 and is fabulous. A choice of eggs, scrambled or fried or an omelette of your choice alongside bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans and a type of hash brown. Several juices are on offer along with Cereals, toast, an array of jams and beautiful pastries. The waiters/waitresses will ask you for any preference regarding tea or coffee.
2. Hotel Shuttle. This service runs several times during the day but must be booked the night before. The bus seats 20 so I imagine is quite busy during peak season. We had no problem booking a place and the drive down to Sorrento takes around 20 minutes. The last shuttle back for us was 19:30 but this may change as the season gets busier. A taxi back from Sorrento to the hotel after this time cost us 55:00 Euros. Once there, you can make your way to the harbour and book a wide variety of trips to suit your needs. Be mindful, there are a lot of steps down to the harbour so coming back there is an option to pay 1 Euro to be driven back up to street level. Worth it after a long day walking!
3. Pool Bar. The Pool Bar is delightful, with lovely Pizzas (choice of 3) for 10 Euros each but big enough to share. Club Sandwich with French Fries for 12 Euros various salads for between 12-18 all so tasty to name but a few. The Pool staff are super helpful and attentive too. Pool Towels are signed for at the Pool Bar and can be picked up daily or as needed. The Pool opens at 09:00 and closes for swimming at 18:00.
4. If you are booked on a B&B basis as we were, there is an option to eat at the hotel restaurant from either the set menu, selecting 3 courses from a choice of 4 options in each course, plus sides for 30 Euros pp or you can select from the A-La-Carte. We opted for the set menu and it was delicious. We sat on the terrace enjoying the wonderful view across the Bay of Naples.
5. Everything bought at the Hotel is charged to your room, so we chose to clear our room bill each morning for the previous day and this was no problem at all for the staff on reception each morning.
To summarise, Hotel Jaccarino is a fabulous hotel with wonderful, helpful staff who all go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as it can be. The town of St A'Gata, a 2 minute walk behind the Hotel is lovely. Very authentic and filled with local shops, pharmacies, some lovely restaurants and bars, a joy to visit. The smell of Honeysuckle fills the air and makes you wonder how you will ever tear yourself away.
We would not hesitate to come back to Hotel Jaccarino and would like to thank all the staff for making our trip completely unforgettable!!
Grazie Mille
