"I wanted to like it here - I really did. The moment I stepped into the hotel, it was beautiful with a welcoming, kind staff. But, things changed.
After checking into the *first* room (#903), I thought it was nice. A little worn, but lovely. Went out for a walk and when I came back I stepped into the bathroom and into a puddle of water. Hmmm. I reached out to staff immediately realizing there was a water leak from somewhere. They were very attentive and moved me to another room right away. My *second* room (#905) seemed ok initially, but then I noticed the bathroom wasn't as clean as it should be. Talked to staff - got it addressed.
The next day, I'm out and about around Palermo and when I come back later I step into the bathroom again and slide a bit. The whole bathroom floor was covered in water. I reach out the staff immediately, and they come right away to clean it up.
Mind you, I'm only there for two nights and on the second night when this happened again I have to get up at 3:30am to catch a flight. I'm exhausted and dealing with significant water issues. Not a very relaxing experience - very upsetting to say the least. The general manager comes by and offers to move me again, but at this point I need to go to sleep since I have to get up extremely early for a long day of travel. I ask for towels on the floor in case this happens again - and she covers the floor.
My concerns are many. The general manager explained this was an issue with Palermo in dealing with heavy rain - there was significant rain happening on my second night (although it was blue skies on my first night) that likely caused the situation. So...my guess is that this issue with the bathrooms didn't start suddenly occurring when I checked into the hotel. It's a known problem. Even though the room #s start with "9" they are technically on the ground floor. So why are you putting people in harms way on this floor? Why is there no notification that something could happen? Anyone could fall and injure themselves when there's rain or no rain. After the first sign of a water issue, why did you put me in another room on the same floor? Why is anyone there at all? This is irresponsible for sure.
I don't appreciate being put in this situation at all. My whole stay -- costing nearly 500 euros -- was marred by this. I appreciate you comping my ride to the airport, but it doesn't come close to what you put me through. If someone does stay at this hotel all I can say is - ask questions if your assigned room has had flooding in the past. Don't stay in my rooms unless they confirm the problem has been fixed. And, frankly, a hotel that doesn't inform guests of potential risks isn't one to stay at. People understand when something happens - as I was when the initial incident occurred. But, when it's a pattern - it's a problem."
