From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. The hotel is breathtakingly gorgeous, steeped in history, dripping with elegance, and yet wonderfully charming rather than stuffy. It manages to feel both grand and inviting, which is no small feat.
And then there was Louise. ❤️
Louise, the fabulous Swedish lady who checked us in, deserves a standing ovation all by herself! She was warm, charming, genuinely sweet, and so effortlessly personable that she had us completely won over in minutes. She absolutely charmed our socks off! And as if we weren’t already smitten, she offered us a MAJOR upgrade to a suite. Yes, a MAJOR upgrade! Louise, darling, we love you!
The suite? Simply spectacular. We honestly couldn’t believe we were getting a room THIS enormous in the heart of Rome. It was impeccably decorated, with the most gorgeous living room, incredibly comfortable beds, and a stunning bathroom. But my favorite detail was the beautiful gallery of artwork above the headboard, a collage that made the bedroom feel like the chicest, most sophisticated home imaginable. Not just a beautiful hotel room, but a home that happens to have a royal budget and impeccable taste. Every detail felt considered, luxurious, and wonderfully inviting.
And the service? Oh, the SERVICE! This is where the St. Regis really separates itself from the competition.
Salvatore in the breakfast restaurant deserves his own fan club. He treated us like his own brothers! Attentive, hilarious, affectionate, and genuinely invested in making us happy, he brought so much personality and warmth to every interaction. This is the kind of hospitality you remember long after you’ve checked out.
Then there’s Giada, whose face absolutely lights up when she smiles. What a sweetheart! She made us feel so welcomed, so loved, and so completely at home. There’s something magical about staff who don’t just perform their jobs beautifully but make you feel like they’re genuinely delighted you’re there. That was Giada in a nutshell.
And I simply MUST mention the senior chef who prepared our omelettes. First of all, those omelettes were practically works of art! But what really touched us was that, on our last day, he came out into the restaurant personally to bid us farewell. He remembered that we were leaving and made a point of coming to say goodbye. How incredibly thoughtful is that? He was such a lovely, fun, sweet gentleman, and that little gesture meant the world to us. These are the moments that turn an excellent hotel stay into an unforgettable one.
We have stayed at some truly gorgeous five-star hotels, including famous, iconic properties in Rome, and while they were all lovely in their own ways, none delivered that same combination of grandeur, understated sophistication, extraordinary comfort, and genuinely heartfelt service that we experienced at the St. Regis.
If I had to compare this hotel to a car, it would be a MAYBACH. Not just a Mercedes. Not just a luxury car. A MAYBACH. The kind of refined, effortlessly extravagant luxury that doesn’t need to shout because everyone in the room already knows. Think royal elegance, old money, impeccable taste, and the sort of wealth that makes everything feel just a little more fabulous. 😂
Yet despite all that grandeur, what we’ll remember most are the people. Louise, Salvatore, Giada, and that wonderful omelette chef made us feel special in a way that no marble staircase, crystal chandelier, or designer furnishing ever could.
The St. Regis Rome has the looks, the history, the suites, the glamour, AND the heart. It’s the full package, and then some.
Would we return? In a heartbeat.
Would we recommend it? Without the slightest hesitation.
