"Avoid at all costs, my fiance and I are terribly disappointed and will be seeking medical care here and when returning to the states.
This is how it went, Read reviews about it being outdated, at first it was no big deal because we had plans to stay out as long as possible to explore and just needed a good location to sleep and clean up before going on to our next location. Saw that there were some A/C concerns, again nothing we felt would be an issue, we live in Phoenix, AZ, and been stationed in some of the most humid places in the world. So it wasn’t something that bothered us.
We get checked in, drop our bags off, took a very quick look, and went out to explore. Came back for a quick nap and to change clothes really quick then back out again until
midnight-ish. We got back ready to clean up and pass out. I don’t know how my fiance didn’t see it at first, maybe because he was exhausted, or more focused on trying to get hot water, he told me to hurry up and get in because it wasn’t draining fast enough so I rush in start to clean up and that when I saw black mold in the grout. I looked down under the jet panel.. tons of black mold, sitting there growing in a wet humid environment for how long before we disturbed it, again not realizing it was there at first. We would have left sooner if we had noticed it. Regardless, we rinse off quickly throw on clothes, head down to the desk to show them the photos of it and tell them it’s bad. We were told that was the only room and they would NOT switch us rooms, even though I pointed out how bad of a hazard this was. We were given a card and told to email it and they get back to us after tomorrow, but we were stuck with that room. My fiancé also brought up the toilet having issues flushing, the water not draining well, and the mini fridge that leaked and damaged a pair of my shoes nearby. They said they send a maintenance person to check it all out, (I figured they’d at least bring something to kill the mold, nope) it’s now about 1am, “maintenance” guy shows up wearing flannel pj pants, I try to show him the mold, he snaps at me that he can’t speak English then proceeds to lecture my fiance about how he probably was just using too much toilet paper in English, (we understand that we need to get better with speaking Italian and not the other way around, it was just ironic). However, my fiance tried to re address the mold problem because it’s an actual issue, not old plumbing in an old building, and aside from the fact that we’re exhausted, worried, and hoping for some kind of solution, we were still kind. Like hey we get it, it’s 1am, you probably got woken up for this. Ok yeah the plumbing is old because it’s an old building, but the mold is a bad problem right now, especially given how small and humid the room is. Well he snapped at my fiance, and slammed the door in his face and took off. We called the booking agency after that, threw our stuff in our bags and went to a late night cafe, so we’re pulling an all nighter and our lungs start to feel irritated, and now that we’re about 6 hours out from leaving the room, both of us are having sore throats, sore lungs, we’re debating going to a hospital now because it’s uncomfortable and not going away. Will be seeking medical appointments at the VA when we get back stateside. Really hoping the symptoms pass soon. Attached pictures, again 6 hours out and symptoms are presenting. We’re just shocked and words cannot describe the type of disappointment this has left us with. We’re supposed to be celebrating an early honeymoon since we won’t have the time following our wedding too. (We paid nearly 200$ for this.)"
