Hotel Relais Monti

"Decent hotel in good location. Stayed here for 7nights 2 adults and 1 teenager. On arrival the foyer/ground floor area is a little underwhelming but it is an older building. Check in nice and easy and staff friendly and welcoming. We were in a triple room on 3rd floor and the lift took an age and is very small but did the job of taking the suitcases up 3 floors. Room lovely, modern and clean. Comfy beds and air con was decent as it was 39 degrees plus outside! The only downside of the room is that other than a double wardrobe there was no chest of drawers /bedside table so putting clothes away was a challenge. Likely ok if you're only staying a few days but as we were there a week it wasn't sufficient. Room was cleaned every day with clean towels. Beds changed every few days. Had tv and mini fridge in room. Main downside was breakfast, wished I hadn't paid the extra tbh. Really wasn't worth it - very small selection and only cooked option were scrambled eggs no bacon, sausages, etc. Limited choice of cereal and yoghurt and a couple of pastries etc. My son rarely ate much for breakfast (only a banana) and I just ended up having a yoghurt. Not worth the extra we paid. Saying that I would stay here again just not pay extra for breakfast. Great location in Monti and lots of places to eat nearby and about 15min walk to the Coloseum."

"Relais Monti is perfectly situated in one of the best neighbourhoods in Rome. Literally everything is walkable from there. We had a balcony room on the 4th floor (room 404). We really enjoyed the end of day relaxing time on the balcony. AC was a bit noisy but worked very well. We did not take the optional breakfast which we thought was a bit expensive but if you have a big appetite it might be worth it. We preferred having a cornetto and cappuccino at cafes/bars in our street. Room 404 is adjacent to where they serve breakfast so a bit noisy in the morning, especially the coffee machine but it served as an alarm clock for us and we like to start our day early so not too bothered. WIFI worked very well until the last day when it had a few hiccups after a short power outage, overall really good. The bed was comfortable and the sheets changed every other day. Bathroom was a bit on the small side but the shower was a good size. The only real negative about the stay was the lack of hot water. Water was lukewarm at best after making it run for long minutes and the pressure was never really enough to engage the water to the overhead shower head, so only the handheld showered worked. Minor irritation for a couple of days but got to me after 6 days… Staff was very nice and tried to help but couldn't. But overall, would stay there again. Would ask for another room further from breakfast maybe but a positive experience despite the hot water problems."

"This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting Rome, we were able to walk to all of the key locations and when needed there is a metro station at the bottom of the road. We only used this to travel to the Vatican. We stayed on a room only basis, and had a balcony room, this was great for sitting out on for the morning / evening. Breakfast we used the bakers across the road, coffee and croissant was the perfect way to start the day. There is also several mini marts down the road where you can get some drinks and take back to the room if needed / wanted, it worked for us. Loads of restaurants on your doorstep, just to go out and explore! The only down side of the hotel, small lift which is slow, you can walk 4 floors quicker than the lift will move. Some bits of the room were looking a bit tired, such as the shower / bathroom but everything was clean. All in all - perfect hotel perfect location with food and drink on your doorstep. It’s a perfect comfortable base to explore the city!"
