Albergo Santa Chiara

"My husband & I are just back from a wonderful stay at Hotel Albergo Santa Chiara. We spent 4 nights there ahead of a cruise through the Italian Riviera, & loved it! The location, on a quiet cobblestone street just a few minutes walk to the Pantheon, is ideal. The central location made getting pretty much anywhere in Rome convenient. We were able to easily walk to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Capitoline Museum, Victor Emmanuel monument, the Coliseum, Roman Forum, Jewish Ghetto/Great Synagogue, & more. And it’s about a 5 min walk to Argentina Square, from where it was very easy to get a bus to the Vatican Museum & St. Perer’s Basilica. The hotel itself is classic, clean & inviting, with several comfortable public spaces just off the lobby, including a bar/lounge area where guests can enjoy drinks in the evening. Breakfast was very good, & ample, & guests can eat in the breakfast room or in the bar/lounge area, where we ate each day. There’s also a small, lovely outdoor terrace, just beyond the bar. Our guest room was clean & pleasant, & featured a very comfortable bed, ample closet space & excellent A/C (much needed during this summer’s heat spell!) The bathroom was large & clean, with excellent water pressure in the shower. Lastly, it was the hotel staff that impressed us. We were welcomed with friendly greetings each time we returned at the end of the day. The front desk staff was helpful in calling taxis for us during our stay & arranging easy transport from the airport and to the cruise port in Civitavechia. The hotel staff was particularly accommodating to my 85 yr old mother who was traveling with us…that was especially appreciated. Hotel Albergo Santa Chiara is an excellent value, & we will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Rome!"

"This is a beautiful hotel staffed by caring knowledgeable people that is located in the center of everything that you want to see as a tourist while visiting Rome. If you walk less than 5 minutes you will be in front of the Pantheon. The hotel is right behind the Pantheon. If you are wandering around sightseeing and you get lost all you have to do is ask someone where the Pantheon is and you will be right back near the hotel when you get back to the Pantheon. This hotel has an outstanding buffet breakfast which includes eggs, bacon, ham, many types of bakery items, cereal, several types of fruit, mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes, yogurt, many types of coffees and teas, many different kinds of juices and this just scratches the surface. I have traveled to many places for many years and I can tell you that the staff in this hotel are the nicest friendliest people that I have ever encountered while staying at a hotel. Special mention goes out to Federica. She helped me with my initial reservation, getting me checked in and situated when I first arrived, getting me checked out and getting me transportation to the airport on the day I left, she gave me an excellent restaurant recommendation and directions on how to get there, she even helped me with mailing postcards and the related postage and provided guidance on the postal situation in Italy-not all the stamps are the same and there are three different entities which handle mailing-you have to make sure you use the right stamp and the right mailbox. She was always cheerful helpful and very knowledgeable and glad to provide assistance. My room was clean spacious and even the folks providing housekeeping services were cheerful and helpful at every opportunity. For the life of me I can't figure out why this hotel is not rated as excellent by everyone. You will not find a better place to stay in Rome in light of this hotel's cost, location, services provided and the quality of the accommodations."

"We were a family group of 11- kids and adults- celebrating an anniversary with a trip to Rome. We chose the Albergo Santa Chiara as it was recommended to us by Rome Guide Services. The location behind the Pantheon was perfect. We had three suites on the 4th floor of the hotel. This is not a sterile Marriott or Hilton property, but an old palazzo operated as a hotel by the same family for decades. It exudes charm and Italian tradition. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and can provide great advice. The breakfast buffet is excellent, service attentive and friendly. Our kids- ages 10-16- loved it as much as the adults. The location was perfect for exploring all the sites of Rome and the hotel staff provided excellent recommendations for restaurants within walking distance. The location, atmosphere, and experience will be long remembered."
