Villa San Lorenzo

"Awful experience. Bad service ( they only speak in Italian, you have to make an effort to communicate) ,awful breakfast ( a croissant and a biscuit) , very dirty bathroom ( tiles full of mold and hair in the bidet!!!), broken old furniture, No hot water after 11 pm for shower, Very dirty balcony. The last day they also hosted a wedding reception at the pool loud till after 12 am. I would advise not to stay there. "

"When we arrived here for our week stay, we weren’t overly excited about the location - the surrounding areas are full of broken glass and rubbish, with little amenities so not the best first impression (we later discovered that the restaurants are average at best, apart from San Lorenzo Mercarto which is a street food place where it seems lots of locals go, we ate here most nights). When we entered the villa, it felt like an oasis in a poorly cared for area - on the surface it looks beautiful but don’t be fooled. At check-in we were told there was a private party on that night, we were quite surprised by this and even more surprised that the music went on until gone 2am - not the best nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was okay, lots of sweet items but very basic. The rooms were okay with a nice balcony but the bathrooms stank of sewers and the shower cubicle was so small you could barely lift your arms above your head. The most frustrating thing about this hotel was that the owner/manager is renting out all the sun beds to the public. Don’t be fooled by the amount of beds in the pictures - there may only be 10 or so hotel rooms here but that doesn’t mean to say you’ll be able to sit by the pool, at least not comfortably. We thought the first day where around 30 random people turned up might have been a one-off as it was a Sunday however when we went to sit there on the Monday and were actually asked to move and sit on another set of beds as he had a hen party booked to come in! It wasn’t really what we expected, we booked here as we wanted to have a pool that we can actually use and not be in a really big hotel with lots of random people, but this was exactly what we got. I think the thing that topped it off for us was that on the day of check-out, we were told if we wanted to use the pool we would need to pay a “discounted rate” of €10 each to have a sun bed - I have never experienced such lack of disregard to guests, particularly as we had paid a lot of money to stay there for 7 nights. The owner/manager is clearly using the pool, restaurant and sun beds to make a lot of money and doesn’t seem to care about the guests staying here. It’s a shame as we would have eaten in the restaurant, had this not have been the attitude we faced. Would never stay again."

"I made a booking through booking.com on 11 December 2019 for May 2020. I chose to pay at the property and not prepay. As such, I chose to pay a higher price than I would have if I pay in advance. Per the website all payments are handled directly by die hotel and not booking.com. The hotel however put through the entire amount on my credit card already, despite no prepayment being required. I’ve attempted to contact the hotel through the website but no response. I also phoned directly on the numbers available on the website and through google. No answer. Also emailed them through the website platform. It’s the 1st of January 2020 and the money has still not been returned to my card."
