"Mercure Rome Colosseum Centre Rome 1077622902 I stayed at Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo from Sept 6–10, 2026 for my 50th birthday. What should have been a special trip turned into a series of failures that no guest should experience. I booked a Coliseum‑view room specifically for this milestone. At check‑in, I was denied this room because I was traveling with my son and was told it violated occupancy/fire regulations. I accepted the downgrade to Room 113 under the assumption that the hotel was following policy. On Tuesday, Sept 8, housekeeping never serviced the room despite multiple requests and assurances. On Wednesday night, Sept 9, the AC in Room 113 began leaking heavily. The noise woke my family repeatedly, water pooled across the floor, and I spent the night mopping the leak myself and moving all our belongings to the back of the room. No maintenance staff were available. Only after this incident did the hotel offer me Room 312 — a premium 3‑person room with a large window that opens. However, despite being labeled a 3‑person room, it still only had one bed. This raises serious questions about why it was withheld until after the AC leak, and why no Coliseum‑view alternative was offered at check‑in. The sequence of decisions created the clear appearance that my originally booked Coliseum‑view room was reassigned to another guest, and that my family did not receive equitable consideration in room allocation. I had to personally suggest that Wednesday night’s charge be waived. While the hotel eventually agreed, it was not offered proactively despite the severity of the disruption and the physical labor I had to perform to manage the leak. Breakfast each morning had an unmistakably cold atmosphere. I acknowledged multiple guests with a nod; none responded. Only the waitress spoke. It contributed to an overall sense of discomfort throughout the stay. My 50th birthday morning — Sept 10 — was spent exhausted, cleaning up an AC leak instead of enjoying the view I booked. This is not how I intended to spend a milestone morning or the night leading into it. If you expect consistency, professionalism, or basic hospitality, look elsewhere. If you are a warm welcoming person, I strongly advise staying away from Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo."

"Great location. However, we were disappointed with our room. The tiny window looked directly onto the hotel’s trash bins and back area. When we asked the staff, they said the room was assigned randomly, even though we had booked four months in advance. The bathroom was not very clean, with hair on the floor and around the toilet. The room was very small and felt cramped. It was also very noisy—we could hear even small footsteps and noises from outside the room. The prices were very expensive for what was offered. Overall, the location was great, but the room, cleanliness, noise, and value for money did not meet our expectations."
