"We just came back from staying 5 nights at this hotel. We booked "Deluxe corner room with the full view of Forum" 22sqm. When we arrived at about 7 pm they assigned us room 402. We immediately complained that the room was too hot and A/C was not blowing cold air. The desk clerk came to the room and advised that we should go to dinner and leave the card key in the slot so that the room cools down. Two hours later the room was still hot. They did not want to do anything until I called booking.com that got involved. A maintenance crew was called but they did not fix anything, same next morning. We asked for a different room and they tried to stick us in an 18 sqm room. When we refused, they found a similar size room but with no view overlooking a narrow noisy street with another building in front just 5.5m across (measured by a laser tool). A in-room floor standing A/C unit did work but with its noise and noise form the street we had to use ear plugs at night. They promised a discount at checkout. The hotel is old and to say it is dated is an understatement – it is shabby. Worn out plumbing fixtures, beat up furniture and filthy carpet runners in the halls. Breakfast on the roof terrasse is so-so for a 500+euro a night hotel. Meager choice of food and fruits from a can instead of typical everywhere else fruit salads. When we were checking out, they presented us with not discounted bill but when I asked for a hotel manager, they promptly gave us 100 euro off per night. Later when I read 1-star reviews, I discovered that two months ago another guest had exactly the same problem with A/C in room 402. They never fixed it yet continued to advertise as a room with A/C. That is outright fraud. Location is OK but the view from ill-fated room 402 is not worth it. The forum is at a distance and most that you see is crowds of people on the streets."
