The Nicolaus Hotel Bari

"Interesting property to review as probably when it was new this property was stunning. First off: location is odd. Plan on a cab to get to the waterfront/shopping area of Bari (hotel shuttle doesn't service per the front desk). The roads outside the hotel are congested in the morning hours & there's lots of horn honking. The property seems to be generally maintained, but dated. On the exterior it looks like perhaps there were water features that now have patio furniture in them? The floor our room was on was dimly lit & dated. Room was huge, no wall art, & curtains needed replacing. Bed & furniture were comfortable. The bathroom was enormous with floor to ceiling pink marble. The room was generally clean, but the shower didn't drain was slow & the tub had hair from prior guest(s). The pool was warm & beautiful-unfortunately, the swim time slots were limited to mid afternoon- evening. The lobby was stunning with lots of fresh orchids. The breakfast was fantastic, as was the dinner we enjoyed at the hotel restaurant & coffee at the bar. Restaurant service was good. Friendliness/helpfulness of front desk varied. We had hoped to use the the hotel shuttle for airport transportation, but the pick up/drop off times are on a fixed schedule which didn't coordinate with our flights so paid 30€-35€ for taxis. Probably would look for a hotel closer to the water/town if I were to return."

"I had already been to this hotel on a trip with my niece, also using the Spa services, and since I had found everything perfect, including the restaurant, I returned for 2 nights on a business trip. Room on the 12th floor, wonderful view, comfortable room, excellent service, top-level breakfast with both savory and sweet options, pampering and attentiveness everywhere. I will always return every time I come to Bari, impeccable."

"It was disappointing this time; I had come in the past, but this time I found "damp" sheets that seemed unchanged, the bathroom dirty.. etc.. both in the room I took and in another room of a colleague of mine.. on another floor.. I won't say anything else.. A luxury hotel with these absurd anomalies.. it wasn't like this at all before! Regarding the rest, everything is top-notch, fantastic breakfast!"
