"Unfortunately, we did not find this hotel to be a four-star hotel. Attention to detail was lacking & hotel staff were not very friendly. When we arrived, we asked the man at the front desk if change for 20 euros could be provided so that we could tip the driver. He said ‘no’ very abruptly & just about dismissed us until he realized that we were actually checking in. The check in process was less than friendly. We were given 1 key to the room. When the porter took our bags to the room, he used his key. Later that evening when we returned to the hotel after dinner, we could not get into the room with the 1 key that we were given. Went to the front desk to find that our key was programmed for another room. This time, we received 2 keys. Once again, when we returned to the room after being out the next day, neither key worked. Back to the front desk whereby the man asked us if we were supposed to be checking out, despite the fact that we had a few more days to our stay. Received reprogrammed keys again. Upon checking in, complimentary items (instant coffee packs) were missing. No water until someone knocked on the door & provided 1 bottle of water. Nothing outstanding about the room - basic. Floor cleaning machine was outside our door for 2 days. The turndown service in the evening consisted of removing the towel in the bathroom (intended for your feet when getting out of the shower) & placing in on the floor on one side of the bed (nothing on the other side). Nothing else done. On another night, the towel was placed on the floor at the end of the bed. Really would have been better off providing no turndown service (we weren’t expecting it either). On a very positive note, we dined in the restaurant one night & found the food to be excellent as was our server Daniele. He was absolutely great. We encountered him a few more times during breakfast & every time, he went above & beyond. He should be the face of this hotel as most of the other hotel staff (not restaurant staff) didn’t come close to the service excellence that he provided. We stayed in 5 different hotels during our stay in Italy with Hotel Manin being our last stop. This was the only hotel of the five that disappointed & we would not recommend it (except for the restaurant). Also, very difficult to get a taxi back to the hotel either via FreeNow or IT Taxi when we were out & about. Responses to questions asked of the front desk staff regarding taxi service were less than helpful. The woman who checked us out at the front desk was friendly. These are all small nuisances but collectively, they add up & speak to an indifferent environment that lacks attention to detail & a welcoming environment."
