"Dishonest, Unhelpful, and Completely Unreliable — Avoid Hotel San Biagio Stay far away from this hotel if you value honesty and basic customer service. I booked a room at Hotel San Biagio and made it absolutely clear when booking that I would be arriving around 1 AM because of a late-night flight. The hotel accepted my non-refundable reservation without any warning or mention that they would not allow check-in at that time. After taking my money, they later told me I would not be allowed to check in until 7 AM the next morning. In other words, I was charged for a night with no access to the room. They refused to refund me, refused to adjust my booking dates, and offered no help whatsoever. Their attitude was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely lacking in any sense of responsibility. Their website and Booking.com listing are misleading. They show standard check-in hours (14:00 to 00:00) but fail to make it clear they will simply refuse late arrivals, even when notified in advance. This is incredibly deceptive. I’ve traveled a lot, and this is by far one of the worst, most dishonest experiences I’ve had with a hotel. They take your money, make no effort to provide the service you’ve paid for, and couldn’t care less about the inconvenience or stress they cause. Avoid Hotel San Biagio. There are plenty of other hotels in the area run by people who actually respect their guests."
Awful experience that ruined our trip. Terrible service. Rude and horrible staff.
"We had an appalling experience at Hotel Sans Biago, Milan. Prior to booking, we contacted the hotel on five separate occasions to arrange a late check-in, as our flight was due to arrive after 1:00 am. The hotel confirmed this would cost €20, which we were happy to pay. We even double-checked whether someone would be available at reception at that time, and this was confirmed twice. However, our flight was delayed by 40 minutes due to a storm, and we immediately informed the hotel via Booking.com and email. Despite this, we received no response. When we arrived, the hotel was locked, and no one was available to let us in. We knocked, rang the phone for over 30 minutes (hearing it ring inside), but no one answered—despite being assured someone would be present. This left us stranded in Milan, without accommodation, after midnight. Exhausted, cold, and carrying our luggage, we searched over 20 hotels in the city center for a room. Several hotel staff expressed sympathy, with some even offering couches in their receptions. Finally, at 5:30 am, we found a room at another hotel, costing us nearly €200—most of our spending money for what was meant to be a special birthday trip. We arrived back at Hotel Sans Biago at 2:00 pm the next day, only to discover they had canceled our three-night booking on Booking.com, despite us having paid in full. When we calmly explained the situation, we were met with hostility and aggression from 4-5 staff members. They shouted over us, blamed us for not arriving "on time," and dismissed our explanations about the delayed flight. They also admitted they don’t check emails or messages. The owner—a blonde woman—was particularly rude and dismissive, repeatedly interrupting my partner and reducing me to tears with her appalling behavior. Not once did anyone apologize for the ordeal. Instead, they acted as though allowing us to stay for the remainder of our booking was doing us a favor, despite taking our money and canceling our reservation. During the stay, we discovered we had to leave our keys at reception whenever we left the premises, forcing us to interact with the same rude staff repeatedly. Although the male receptionist was friendlier as the stay progressed, the overall atmosphere remained tense and uncomfortable. We were forced to ring reception on both evenings to ensure someone would be available to let us into the hotel as we were worried that we would be locked out, but on both occasions we were advised that access is "24 hours"—clearly untrue, given our experience on the first night. This experience completely ruined our trip to Milan. The owners of this hotel are incredibly rude, negligent, and unprofessional. They took our money, left us stranded, and treated us with utter disrespect. I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to stay away. They do not deserve your business."
One star hotel with five star service
"I checked out of this hotel this morning after a two night stay and can certainly recommend it. Ok, it's not 5* but it doesn't claim to be. In my experience, the room was clean and comfortable with it's own well functioning bathroom. My interactions with staff were all positive and friendly. It's very close to the nearest metro station and about a 15 - 20 minute walk to the central station (or two stops on the metro). Whilst breakfast isn't included, there are options very close by....I would stay here again."
