"Spa area unfortunately closed for 4 days without prior notice. The reception needed 4 full days for tee time reservations! Absolutely unsuitable for golfers. Massages only available in "standard". "I recently stayed at the Hotel Splendid Bay in Padenghe sul Garda, a property that enjoys a truly beautiful panoramic position directly overlooking the lake, where in the morning it is possible to admire a wonderful sunrise that beautifully colors the landscape. A note of merit also for the dining: we dined with great pleasure at the Osteria del Rivale, an excellent meat restaurant where the quality of the homemade bread stands out, while we found the fish restaurant Acquariva, located about 500 meters from the hotel, to be average, good but without excelling. Unfortunately, despite such a suggestive setting, the overall experience and the quality of the services proved to be decidedly lower than expectations for a hotel of this category. The service failures began immediately at check-in: since we were returning from a week of vacation with several bags, we requested porter service. We were assured that we could go up to our room and that our suitcases would arrive shortly, but after waiting 40 minutes we had to return to the front desk to retrieve our car keys, which had been taken from us upon arrival. The receptionist on duty at that moment seemed completely clueless, explaining that they did not know they were supposed to take the suitcases; only after we had retrieved our keys and started walking toward the car were we asked if we needed a hand. The information received regarding the hotel's services also turned out to be inaccurate. We had been told that the outdoor pool was regularly staffed for towel delivery and sunbed assignment, only to discover on our own — from a sign hidden on the opposite side of the entrance — that as of September 27, the pool was unstaffed and its use was at the individual's own risk. During the afternoon spent there, we then decided to order something to drink and eat from a passing waiter: two alcoholic drinks, a Coca-Cola, and two ham and cheese toasted sandwiches. The waiter returned with only the drinks to inform us that we could not eat on the sunbeds and that we would have to go to the adjacent gazebo. Having asked to bring the drinks to the gazebo as well, we were told that the food order had not yet been sent and that, while waiting, the ice would melt. Result: we had to drink the alcoholic beverages on an empty stomach before moving, then having to consume them half-melted. To add insult to injury, we noticed that other guests were instead calmly allowed to enjoy their food directly in the pool area on their own sunbeds. Once we arrived at the gazebo, besides finding the table set for two people instead of three, the two toasted sandwiches turned into two club sandwiches complete with bacon, sauces, and fries; when we asked for an explanation, the error was downplayed by calling it a "plus" better than what we had ordered. The day at the pool then ended with a group of guys, probably from the Il Rivale restaurant, who jumped into the water while still dressed and started shouting, to the indifference of the staff, who only made them move to the gazebo area after an hour, where they remained until at least eight in the evening. Looking for some peace and quiet, we moved to the spa, then asked at the front desk on our way out for clarification regarding the shuttle service to reach the Acquariva restaurant. We had been confirmed that it would be enough to show up 15 minutes before our reservation, but when we returned less than 40 minutes later, we were told that the service had not been available since the day before due to a breakdown, suggesting we walk along a road with a sidewalk that was non-existent in some parts. Fortunately, we had our own car, although upon returning from dinner, the shuttle service was paradoxically offered to us again as if the breakdown had suddenly been resolved. To top it all off, we noticed a lack of attention to general cleanliness: from the floor of the outdoor gazebo full of food scraps, to the pool loungers covered in cobwebs, to the bedroom, which was only given a superficial touch-up and lacked a thorough cleaning. The location remains enchanting, but the disorganization, poor staff communication, and blatant disparities in service do not in the slightest reflect the standards expected for a five-star property."
