La dolce vita on the shores of Lake Como
On the western shore of Lake Como, Moltrasio is one of a number of beautiful lakefront towns. Known for its ochre-coloured, sage-shuttered houses that spill down the hillside and are woven with narrow streets, there’s a fairytale quality to Moltrasio.
Long summer days here are spent strolling along the lakeside promenade, eating the delicious gelato, taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters of the lake, or enjoying a leisurely boat ride. And, of course, feasting on risotto alla Milanese and homemade pasta with a lake view.
All along this dreamy shoreline, balmy days end with starry nights spent sipping Campari spritz and imagining what it would be like to live in one of the waterfront villas (and be neighbours with the Clooneys).

Your Moltrasio questions, answered
Summer is when the towns come alive. They can be busy, but they're arguably at their most atmospheric (and warmest).
Take a boat tour on the lake and see if you can spot Villa Balbianello, which was used as a location in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale.
You might want to hire a car. Otherwise you’ll rely on the little boats that zip across the water taking visitors from town to town.
