**A True Grand Hotel Experience in Bellagio — Easy 5 Out of 5**
We stayed at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio after spending a couple of nights at Hilton Lake Como, and this was truly a different kind of experience.
From the moment we arrived, the staff at the entrance were extremely welcoming. They immediately helped with our luggage and made sure everything was taken to our rooms. Check-in was very easy, and the concierge team was very helpful. They helped us figure out boat schedules for our lunch reservation at Grand Hotel Tremezzo and our visit to Villa Carlotta near Tremezzo, and they also helped schedule an appointment at a local hair salon for my wife, which we really appreciated.
The rooms themselves were immaculately clean and had a very classic, old-world elegance. You immediately get the sense that this hotel belongs to the era of the Grand Tour of Europe, when aristocrats traveled through places like Bellagio in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The hotel feels like an ode to that period — refined, historic, and very classy. The bathrooms were also spotlessly clean. There was one issue during turndown service where one of our two bathrooms was not cleaned properly, and some visible dirt was left on the floor. However, this was addressed appropriately the next day, and the hotel even compensated us for the issue, which we appreciated.
The breakfast at Villa Serbelloni was honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever experienced. The breakfast room itself felt like a grand ballroom, with very high painted ceilings and a huge, beautiful spread. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I would almost stay at this hotel again just for the breakfast buffet. It was so good that on both mornings, we ended up spending nearly two hours at breakfast. It was a lovely experience.
The hotel also arranged a private boat tour for us on a classic wooden boat, and it was excellent. It cost 370 euros and was well worth it. The captain and boat were a perfect choice, Prosecco was served on board, and it was extremely convenient to leave directly from the hotel’s own dock.
We also spent several hours at the pool with our boys. The pool was very clean and the water temperature was perfect. We had lunch at the poolside restaurant, and the food was excellent. One minor point is that the waitstaff there could pay closer attention to guest requests. We ordered a cheeseburger and mentioned several times that we did not want bacon on it, but it still arrived with bacon. We also ordered one bottle of sparkling water but were brought two. To their credit, when we pointed this out, they removed the second bottle from the bill without any issue. These were small things, but at a hotel of this caliber, the waitstaff at the pool restaurant should probably listen a bit more carefully.
In the evening, we had dinner at Mistral, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant. The food was excellent. My wife and I shared the lobster pasta, which was wonderful. The wine list was enormous — truly the biggest wine list I have ever seen. Before dinner, we had drinks in the lounge bar area, which was also very classy, and the drinks were excellent.
Overall, this was an excellent stay and absolutely worth the money. Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is the kind of hotel I would choose for a milestone occasion, such as an anniversary, a 50th birthday, or another special celebration. It is a very high-end, classy property, and even the guests seemed to fit that refined atmosphere.
This is an easy 5 out of 5 for us. If you want to stay somewhere truly special in Bellagio, this is the place to do it. We would definitely stay here again."
