Grand Hotel Europa Palace

"My wife and I checked into grand hotel Europa palace on Monday June 15th and were initially blown away by the beauty of the location and the hotel itself. The rooms were spacious and well decorated and the views were incredible. However, our stay was ruined when we returned from a day trip to find a brand new, never worn silk Gucci shirt that was hanging in the closet had been ripped, torn, and heavily soiled while we were out. The shirt is beyond repair and effectively destroyed. The damage was severe enough that we noticed it from across the room. We brought the shirt to the front desk, and after seeing the label and realizing it was a Gucci shirt, they immediately became defensive and began implying that *we* were the ones who damaged the shirt, claiming that it may have been packed improperly or caught in a zipper. for the record, the shirt was packed in the tissue paper that the sales associate at Gucci wrapped it in after i purchased it, and subsequently packed in a packing cube, and placed in a suitcase, so there is no possible way that the damage could have been caused by a zipper. They refused to take any accountability for the destruction of my property, and refused to put us in contact with the general manager who was—allegedly—unavailable until Monday June 22nd, well after we were set to check out (Thursday June 18th) We changed our travel plans to return to Sorrento to meet with the general manager after a weekend wedding we’re attending in Amalfi. I now have to take time out of our vacation that we are spending hundreds of euros on every day to address an issue that never should have happened in the first place with a manager who should have contacted us immediately after we reported the damage. My wife and I are well traveled and frequently stay in luxury hotels across the world in places like New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Cancun, Florence, Rome, Amalfi, Positano, Vienna, London, and several other true luxury hotels in Sorrento. Never before have we had issues like this, and never had we had a hotel staff so combative when presented with an issue from their guests. This hotel is under new management as of recently, but after reading reviews from other travelers who experienced similar issues years ago (property theft/damage) it appears nothing has changed."

"I originally booked my stay at this hotel back in October 2025 when the reviews were still hit or miss and was certainly nervous about my hotel decision. Now all the reviews of this hotel are stellar and well deserved! I visited for 3 nights in May and from the time we pulled up to the hotel to the moment we were picked up, our time at Grand Hotel Europa Palace was amazing! The staff throughout the hotel were all very pleasant and accommodating. Our room had just been remodeled and was absolutely beautiful with hues of blues, teals, and white. Very clean, very tastefully decorated, and amazing views or the marina below and Mt Vesuvius in the distance. The whole hotel was beautiful and very well maintained inside and out. The area around the hotel as well as the hotel itself was very quiet which we appreciated. The walk to the center of town was less that 10 minutes and felt very safe based on the surroundings and sidewalk availability. (I traveled with a friend so as 2 females, safety is important to us!) There was also another plaza right across the street with shops and restaurants as well. I personally thought the hotel was very well priced, especially based on the location, being recently renovated and having it's own pool and dock. The only negative for our stay was that the hotel closed the pool and dock area very early in the evening so we were not able to enjoy the areas since we returned late each day from our tours. Our fault for not paying better attention to the hours of availability! We also never got to enjoy breakfast because other tours left early in the morning -- but it looked delicious! I would not hesitate to stay here again with friends or family.... I will just have to do a better job scheduling some down time to enjoy more of the facilities ;-)"

"This hotel is unfairly rated a 4 star because of previous ownership prior to the renovations …I’m telling you it’s simply the most magical, spectacular place we’ve ever been. From the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean to the world class customer service (special shout out to Jian Carlo for the incredible welcome and Sergio for running the food service like a life long expert in hospitality). Is the price on the higher end? Yes. Is it 100% worth it? Absolutely."
