Botanico San Lazzaro

"Whilst I cannot comment on the accommodation here, we visited as a family of 11 (which included 2 young children) for lunch. We found the experience very disappointing and expensive. Whilst the views are stunning, the menu was fairly limited, and the service extremely slow. We were seated on a terrace with 2 large parasol umbrellas which still allowed the sun through, despite there being a covered terrace literally steps away. This proved difficult keeping the children out of the sun. We waited almost an hour just for drinks to arrive, which then the wrong bottle of wine was brought, causing a further delay whilst this was corrected. Meals were brought out very sporadically, and plates cleared whilst some were still eating. A side order was served once everyone had finished their meal! This was sent back."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 day stay here. This is very much family run and the staff were all wonderful. It is not a big hotel so benefits from a degree of intimacy which makes it feel like home. Highlights are the views as the hotel stands proud overlooking the bay at Maiori. Although there is a lift taking guests most of the way up the very steep hill, there are still around 70 steps to the hotel. It is not for the infirm or wheel chair users. The hotel restaurant is stand out good, we enjoyed both a lunch and dinner there. You are also rewarded with fantastic views down the Amalfi coast. Our room was small and could have benefited from more storage. The bathroom was tiny and had a complicated and very small shower. However, we also had an enormous balcony with great views"
