Covid-19 Testing

Covid-19 Testing

To meet the various government requirements on testing for international travel, it’s really important that you read the following information and source the right tests and from government approved providers so you can do what you need to do to go on holiday and be able to come back home.

Testing requirements of your destination

There are all sorts of factors which might affect whether you’ll need to take a test before you go on holiday, such as where you’re travelling to, your vaccination status, and age. You’ll need to visit the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) website to find out more and check the latest information for your holiday destination. We recommend that you register for email alerts, as the requirements can change between booking your holiday and travelling.  Whilst it’s your responsibility to meet the entry requirements for your destination, we want to get you away on your holiday without any hassle so have found a couple of suppliers who can help you get what you need.

There are two different types of tests which overseas destinations may wish holidaymakers to have taken before they board their outbound flight – PCR and antigen (rapid flow). It’s important to find out which of these, if any, you need as if you get the wrong one you may spend more money than you need to, or worse still, it might not be of the required standard to enable you to go on holiday.

It’s worth keeping in mind that, if you need one, you’ll typically need to have had any test carried out, and to have received a negative test result, within 72 hours of when you’re due to arrive at your holiday destination airport (although this will vary by destination), so planning ahead is crucial. You'll be required to show your negative test result certificate at the airport prior to boarding.

We’re working with a couple of different providers to offer discounted rates to customers.  Depending on the test you need, where you live, and which UK airport you’re travelling from, one provider may be better for you than the other – the choice is yours.  Alternatively, you can of course, source your own test but please make sure you check it meets the standards required by governments. Please note, NHS tests cannot be used for this purpose.

Randox - enter code ejh2021 to get a PCR test for £43 (£5 discount)

Collinson - enter code ejh2021 for 20% off

Whilst we’ve helped you find a couple of different options, you should note that this service is provided by accredited third parties and not easyJet holidays. Should you decide to purchase any Covid testing services, the service provider’s terms and conditions will apply. We’re not advertising Covid testing services as a travel service or as part of an easyJet holiday and we are not responsible for the quality and timeliness of the testing services. We can’t emphasise enough how important it is that you’ve got appropriate travel insurance in place to meet your needs.

Testing requirements for your return to the UK

The key thing to be aware of is that it is the colour of the destination on the day you return to the UK which determines what action you need to take. Testing requirements can vary between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If in doubt, please click here. The information below relates to travel to England.

The good news is that you don’t need to quarantine when returning to England from a ‘green’ list destination, unless you test positive. You do, however, need to provide two negative test results.

Test one – an antigen test in the three days before your flight back home to England

Whilst it may be possible to arrange this antigen test whilst you’re on holiday, this test must meet government standards and so for peace of mind, we strongly recommend that you arrange this test well ahead of going on holiday.

If you purchase the Collinson antigen ‘Pre-Return Video Test’, you’ll need to remember to take it with you on holiday and schedule your appointment with Collinson to take place in the three days before your flight back home. Use code ejh2021 for 20% off.

To give you further reassurance in conducting this test, the Collinson antigen test takes place over video call and you will then be emailed your test certificate which you’ll need to show at the airport for your flight home. Please note, NHS tests cannot be used for this purpose. Children aged under 11 do not need to take this test.

If you are returning to Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, please click here for the requirements, which may be different.

Test two – a PCR test taken on or before day two of your arrival in England

This PCR test must be booked through a government-approved provider. Tests should be arranged before you go as you’ll need to provide the details of this PCR test on your Passenger Locator Form which you’ll need to have completed in order that you can board your flight home. These forms are also checked at the UK border. Please note, NHS tests cannot be used for this purpose. Children aged four and under do not need to take the day 2 test.

To complete this test at home, Randox offers a day 2 PCR test.  Select ‘Day 2 only’ test and enter code ejh2021 to get a PCR test for £43 (£5 discount).

To complete this test at a select number of airports when you land, Collinson offers a ‘Green PCR’ test. Use code ejh2021 for 20% off.

Customers returning to England from ‘amber’ list destinations are required to quarantine at home for 10 days. You also need to provide three negative test results.
