Hotel Island Comfort

"Hotel Smari is ideally situated in a small town called Kopuvogur on the outskirts of Reykjavik. It is very close to Smariland shopping mall and many restaurants. Many tour operators do hotel pick up and drop off as well. The hotel is small but comfortable and the staff were very helpful, polite and efficient. Breakfast is continental and was decent. All in all, we enjoyed our stay there and would love to stay there again if we visit Reykjavik."

"We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and we really appreciated 1 thing: the room was very spacious. Basically, that's all. We were lucky not to have anyone near us, but you can hear everything happening in the corridor. The hotel is located near the highway, so quite loud. The shower was really small though. And the breakfast was really poor. So for that price, I would say it was not worth it. But you can see the sunset from some rooms. And there was a free parking, but no safe in the room. And there was only some thin curtains on the 3 huge windows we had, so it let the light almost totally come in the room, so our first nights in Iceland were almost sleepless."

"Booked it quite late as a deal and although it was a little way out we thought that it would be manageable. It’s in a business area so there’s little around it to eat or drink but the worst part was the cleanliness - it was shocking despite us asking them to do things! All of the curtains in reception and the restaurant were grey with dirt. The quilt was yellow with age although the covers were ok. The tiled floors were not routinely cleaned and we resorted to wiping them with a towel! The bathroom was rusty and mouldy - we could not use the shower without wearing flip flops despite it ‘allegedly’ being cleaned daily and we were wiping things down with our own antiseptic wipes! It was a short trip so manageable but I will NEVER return - be warned!"
