Industrial-chic hotel in Reykjavik's creative quarter

Stay right at the centre of Reykjavik’s creative quarter when you book the Grandi by Center Hotels. Set in a former steel factory, it combines modern architecture with an industrial chic aesthetic that nods to the building's heritage, offering a contemporary home-away-from-home in the city.

It's just around the corner from the Old Harbour, where you'll find several excellent museums clustered together, including Aurora Reykjavik (where you can learn all about the science of the Northern Lights), the Saga Museum, and the Reykjavik Maritime Museum. Many whale watching tours depart from this area, too, so if you're hoping to catch a glimpse of Iceland's spectacular wildlife on a boat excursion, this is an ideal place to be.

What Grandi by Center Hotels has to offer

    The Old Harbour

Just around the corner from the hotel is the Old Harbour area. Here, you'll find a plethora of great restaurants, bars, a food hall and several fascinating museums. It's also the departure point for many whale watching and Northern Lights boat excursions.

    Aurora Reykjavik

If you're interested in learning anything and everything about the Northern Lights, there's no better place to do so than this excellent little museum that's just a couple of minutes' walk away from the hotel. As well as explaining exactly how the Northern Lights work, the museum also offers forecasts to predict the likelihood of seeing them on any given day.

    Old West Side

Just to the west of downtown, the Old West Side is a quiet, residential neighbourhood that contains some of Reykjavik's most attractive and traditional houses. It's a lovely area for a leisurely stroll, and it's right on the hotel's doorstep.

Find out more about Reykjavik City

As you traverse the lunar-like lava fields that characterise the landscape around Keflavik, Iceland’s main international airport, you may feel like you’ve arrived on another planet. A soak in the steaming, milky blue waters of the Blue Lagoon may further solidify that impression. Once you arrive in Reykjavik, though, you’ll discover a city with a cool, cosmopolitan vibe, a flourishing food and drink scene, and a kaleidoscope of brightly painted houses that offer endless satisfying photo opportunities.
