Not worth the possible hassle
"It may be cheaper than other area hotels, but if you can't get in, then it's not worth the risk or the headache. It's a completely digital "contactless" hotel with no onsite staff. We didn't get our check-in door codes sent to us, after our digital check-in. We tried repeatedly to contact the hotel via whatsapp (per the confirmation suggestion), email and even went to the hotel to try their "digital" front desk and got no answers from anyone. We ended up having to book a last minute hotel elsewhere."
Wakeup & smell the profits
"Seeing how far it is from ANYTHING, by the time I get back from tours EVERYTHING is closed. This is the capitol ? WOW, how about putting some vending machines in the lobby, you'd make a ton of money, and the patron's would,nt stare to death like I have been doing since arriving. I want a cut of the profits from those vending machines. BTW your welcone for a BRILLANT IDEA"
Great value for money!
"This was our first time using a self-service hotel, which we were initially nervous about trying, however we found that our room ended up being great value for money as the price of this hotel is probably the absolute cheapest room you can get that is still within walking distance to the city centre. The room itself was easy to access. We were given a code the night before our stay and just entered the code on the door. Other reviews would be correct in saying that it can be a bit of a maze trying to find your room but it was worth it to get there. The room felt secure and had a nice atmosphere and design. We particularly liked the bathroom. Everything was extremely clean and tidy and there was lots of storage space for everything you may bring with you. This was our first time travelling abroad so we forgot that the rest of the world uses universal plugs, rather than the three-pronged British ones. This, however, was an easy fix as the hotel had left us with a list of nearby stores, which were suprisingly cheap considering Icelandic prices and we managed to aquire a plug. Additionally we were very impressed with the size of the room too, which was almost double the size of our bedroom at home. My partner and I booked a double bed, however they gave us a double bed with two single duvets on. We found this quite strange however it actually proved to be very comfortable. The room was warm and at times, when the curtains were closed, we almost forgot we were in Iceland, which is notorious for being cold (hence the name). The walls were fairly thin in the hotel so we could hear doors slamming in the morning, however this didn't disturb our rest, as most people were in their rooms by 11pm and the sun didn't rise until 10am. On our first night, we got locked out of the building, however the virtual reception was quick to answer. The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that, while the reception was easy to contact, they were not so quick at resolving our issue. It didn't seem like they understand that we were locked out the building and not our room, and kept asking for our room code, which we explained we had already tried on the outside door and didn't work. Since it was such a hassle to get in after being locked out, we were anxious the following night that we would find ourselves in the same situation but this wasn't the case. I highly reccommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Iceland for cheap."
