For a more elevated experience (pardon the pun), make for the rooftop – there's a pool, a bar, a restaurant serving Greek and Mediterranean bites, and views to boot – perfect for unwinding and watching the sun set.

Nestled at the foot of a mountain and fringed by a historic port overlooking the Ionian Sea, no one can say that Zante Town holidays are anything but picturesque. The capital city of the island of Zante is steeped in cultural significance – cobbled streets are lined with ornate Venetian-style architecture harking back to when the island was under Italian rule. History buffs will be interested to view precious artworks in the town’s Byzantine Museum, which were saved after the 1953 earthquake that destroyed much of the city.
