"This was our 4th visit to Kalamaki & after staying in 3 family hotels we decided to try the Scirocco which is adults only.
As with any holiday we looked through the reviews were mainly positive. There were some negative points raised but based on our experience they were unfounded.
We had a junior suite which included air conditioning which is a must in August. The air con blew across the room and not directly onto the bed and was reasonably quiet and effective. The beds were firm to the point where my wife couldn’t sleep however when she mentioned it to the staff, they said they could fit a mattress topper which was done within the hour - great service.
The rooms were a good size, cleaned daily with towels and bedding changed every 3 days. The shower and bathroom were adequate and hot water wasn’t a problem. If you wanted glasses or a kettle you simply had to ask the staff who were very friendly and accommodating.
The pool area was clean and sun beds/lay back chairs available without any issues. The pool was lovely, a good size, not overcrowded and had a good friendly atmosphere. The guests were a mix of English and Europeans.
Most guests were retired/semi retired with a blend of younger couples just wanting a quiet relaxing holiday.
There were ramps for disabled access and some some guests had mobility scooters which were catered for. If you are disabled ask for a ground floor room.
The food was of a decent standard, although we ate out most nights.
I did read some negative comments about the breakfast however having stayed in lots of hotels, neither my wife of I could fault it as there was plenty of choice.
Location wise it’s close to the beach which you can walk along to Laganas which takes around an hour. It’s a nice walk and you can stop to swim anywhere on the way there or back.
The strip or old town, going in either direction is around a 15 minute walk.
The restaurants are very good and reasonably priced, (not dissimilar to UK prices). Favourite restaurants were Ambrosia, Sizzle & Grill, Parthenon, Bullhorn with Corner 45 & Rose & Crown good for breakfast and lunch.
Live Entertainment was on in the Venue, Antonis Bar, Iguana Bar, The Shamrock and Corner 45. If you are a football fan games are on in many of the bars with corner 45 being our favourite.
All in all I’d recommend the hotel to older couples and those wanting a quiet relaxing holiday who don’t mind the walk to the restaurants and bars. I wouldn’t recommend it for youngsters, wedding parties etc.
Kalamaki is a great resort for those wanting a quiet relaxing holiday with a choice of restaurants, bars and light entertainment. If you want nightclubs and a party atmosphere try Laganas."
