Golden Sun Hotel

"Another great stay at the Golden sun hotel, this was our 5th stay during the end of May half term week, you do see a lot of familiar guests faces every year which says a lot about the quality of the hotel, all the staff you encounter are very friendly from the moment you arrive and your cases are taken to your room to check out, There were a number of wedding parties staying during our stay so the hotel was busy but we always had access to a couple of sun beds and a parasol and there were always some spare beds, definitely no need to get up early to secure a spot by the pool The food and drink options were good as always although slightly disappointed that the breakfast omelette station was gone this year, We always eat in for breakfast and lunch but usually go out to eat in the evening to one of the many dining options on the strip, the couple of nights that we stayed in were when the entertainment was on John and his assistant at the bar work so hard to keep everyone’s glasses full and there are never long queues, Thank you very much for another great holiday and see you again in 2027"

"Cons: I was sold this holiday as a 5* resort from TUI, which definitely isn’t accurate. We were also sold it as having adults only areas included, however, we found out on arrival that we would have to pay to access the adults only area which was disappointing as we had booked it specifically for this. We were also told that we wouldn’t be served any all inclusive drinks in the adults only area. The hotel’s poolside was too small for the number of guests, we only managed to get a sunbed once during our stay which was disappointing. The all inclusive drinks list was very limited too, which was a shame. We also had dirty sheets most days with stains and hairs. This was very disappointing as the room was very nice and modern but was let down by the standard of housekeeping. We also got woken up (had a do not disturb sign - which was taken away on day 2) by housekeeping to give us a survey which wasn’t great. (The standard of cleanliness throughout the rest of the hotel was good though). This wasn’t a con for me but I know many people would be put off so I want to mention that the planes fly very low over the hotel as the runway is just across the road. It is very noisy, but luckily in May there weren’t many frequent flights, this may be different in summer. I love planes so didn’t mind this (see poolside picture for how low planes are). Obviously this isn’t something the hotel can control which is fair. Pros: The restaurant and check in staff were wonderful and helpful and the rooms were modern. The pool was clean and a nice size. The food was very good but sometimes there were limited options. The hotel is right by the beach and a 10 min walk from shops so it is in a good place. The pool table was a good addition too but would be good if it was available all day. Also, the grounds are well kept with some great gardeners. Summary: From my experience I would say the hotel is between 3.5-4 star as there are many “luxuries” missing such as poolside service (it was pour your own pints/soft drinks, no table service drinks in the restaurant, etc), full housekeeping (cleaning floors, taking away rubbish, etc). If you’re a typical brit abroad you would probably love this hotel as there is a lot of English foods on offer. Recommendations: For anyone visiting the hotel I’d recommend hiring a car and exploring the island. As we couldn’t get space by the pool during the day we went out and explored and returned to the pool at around 5pm to get a sun longer and a swim. It was well worth it!"

"just Amazing service staff amazing helpful and willing to help were amazing Athatis was an absolute star had some issues at the airport with a party member luggage so arrived at 23.00 in Zante so very hungry we asked about local food because kitchen was closed Athatis arranged a pizza for us he paid for it himself (we paid next day) just an amazing team helpful lovely people food choice amazing"
