"My family and I have just returned from a fantastic week in Argassi, staying at the Papillon Hotel, and wow – what a place!
My wife and I had never visited Greece before, so this was our first experience, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better one. Our teenage daughters absolutely loved both the hotel and the area too.
The Papillon may officially be a three-star hotel, but our experience was excellent from start to finish. The transfer from the airport was incredibly easy and took only around 15 minutes. When we arrived, the reception staff were friendly, welcoming and professional, making check-in completely stress-free.
We stayed in rooms 421 and 422, which were spacious and spotlessly clean. The cleaning staff do an amazing job, and the rooms were kept to a really high standard throughout our stay. Yes, you do have to pay extra for air conditioning, and with two rooms this obviously adds to the cost, but we knew this before booking and had budgeted for it, so it didn’t come as a surprise.
The pool is a great size and, despite visiting during the summer, it never felt overly busy or crowded. The whole pool area was always clean and well maintained, and the bar staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We definitely made the most of the two cocktails for €12 offer, usually enjoying a couple by the pool before heading out for dinner in the evening!
If I had to find one small criticism, it would probably be breakfast. It was perfectly nice and there was something for everyone, but I personally would have loved a fresh omelette and pancake station to give it that little something extra. That said, I really enjoyed the fresh fruit options, and the breakfast staff were always cheerful, welcoming and friendly, which was a lovely way to start each day.
The hotel is in a great location and, in my opinion, works equally well for families and couples. Despite being family-friendly, the pool area never felt particularly noisy or hectic, which made it really relaxing.
Another big bonus is having Solesea Beach Bar linked to the hotel. It’s a lovely place to spend some time, and the Greek Night is definitely worth booking – we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overall, we had a wonderful holiday. For a three-star hotel, the Papillon genuinely exceeded our expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Argassi was a fantastic introduction to Greece for our family, and the Papillon played a huge part in making the holiday so enjoyable.
My wife and I are already talking about coming back – which probably says everything!"
